Yuri sat in his desk, staring at the auburn beauty in his class. Alice was her name; a new foreign student. He frowned as he only looked at her back, a slight view of her gorgeous face. Auburn hair cascading down her petit back, draping beautifully over her shoulder; one reason he couldn’t stop thinking about her. Yuri tried to focus on what was written on the board, normally, it would be easy for him to pay attention, but since she stepped into the classroom, things had turned around for him.
“Chinen,” Ryosuke threw a small ball of paper in his direction, trying to catch his attention. “Sensei’s looking at you. Focus.” He warned before returning to his notes. Yuri glanced at the teacher; indeed she was looking at him.
Yuri sighed and went back to his notes. He looked at the board and started copying what was written. But even though he tried to look away, he couldn’t. She still remained in his thoughts even though he tried to concentrate on the lesson.
Ishimoto Alice, the Austrian beauty as some of his classmates dubbed her. Her face wasn’t something he had seen before. It was an exotic mix of European blood and Japanese in one exquisite being. Yuri thought of her all day and night.
She spoke English than Japanese and was rather shy about it. She even spoke German better. She always hung around Amanda or Aoki who would speak either English to her or in Aoki’s case, German. Yuri slightly got jealous since she would always cling onto them. But he needn’t worry, they took care of her.
Yuri had tried talking to her before, but she always creeped away or try to find an excuse not to talk to him. It had bothered him for a while. He was cute, adorable and handsome to the nth power. No girl would say no to him. But since she would always excuse herself from him, he had just even wanted to get to know her even more.
He had found the cuteness of her voice irresistible-
“Chinen-san!” the teacher’s voice snapped him out of his thoughts and into reality. He looked around him and saw all of his classmates and the teacher looking at him. Did he just daze off?
“Can you please answer the question please?” the teacher said and pointed to the board. Chinen took a few seconds to analyze the question and formulate an answer. He noticed Ryouske looking at him with a “i-told-you-so” face. But what distracted him slightly was he fact that Alice had her full attention to him.
“It’s… 3y + 2x(yz)..” Yuri answered. There was an awkward silence in the class, awaiting if his answer was correct. Yuri glanced at Alice for a second then back to the teacher. The teacher looked into her notes and nodded.
“That’s correct.” She nodded, making Yuri sigh in relief. He glanced at Alice, smiling at her, proud of his little stint but when he turned to her, she had his back on him.

Yuri sighed heavily after class was over. Everyone had gone home already and he declined going home with Yuto and Ryosuke. A lot had been going in his mind recently especially thoughts around Alice. He had tried to speak with her again yet, she clung onto Amanda when she passed by and walked away with her.
Why didn’t she want to talk to him? Did he do something to offend her? Did he look scary and mean?
Yuri sighed. All he wanted was to talk to her and get to know her. But it looked like she wasn’t interested in him. Yuri felt a slight pain in his chest. What was he feeling?
Was it pain? The feeling of heart break? Whatever it was he didn’t like it one bit. He suddenly felt sad whenever he thought of Alice, the chance of just getting to know her was slipping away. He finished packing his bag and headed out of the classroom.
He walked down the hallways and noticed the atmosphere was slightly dark and he looked out the window. There were dark clouds that were low and the air was slightly humid. It was definitely going to rain soon. He didn’t like it when it would rain, especially if his feelings were already dampened.
He approached the shoe lockers and changed his shoes. He grabbed the pair of indoor shoes and put them back into his locker, before stepping out any further, he noticed the rain starting to pour. He sighed; it was just in a matter of time before it started to rain.
“E-Eh?” he heard a small voice. Yuri looked over to the over side of the lockers to see a head of Auburn looking out to the rain. He felt his cheeks heat up after realizing it was none other than Alice.
“Mou,” she complained to herself, not knowing about his presence. Her hazel eyes looked sadly upon the rain as she gripped her school bag. “How will I get home now?”
Yuri tried to resist himself by not trying to startle her by making any sudden conversation. He held himself back and kept his composure as he was trying to think of suitable words to say to her.
“A-Alice-san…” he spoke softly and gently, trying not to intimidate her. Alice turned a faced him, a slight trace of surprise in her face. Maybe it was wrong to use her first name? Alice tried to speak but no words came out of her mouth.
“I-I mean, Ishimoto-san.” He corrected himself. “Do you need to borrow an umbrella?” he smiled gently, holding out his umbrella to her. Alice looked down at the umbrella and back at him, shaking her head.
“D-Daijoubou,” she stuttered a bit, flushing slightly. Yuri found her cute like that and felt some blood rush to his cheeks. “A-Ano.. Amanda-nee will take me home…i-if she comes for me…”
“Ah, sou ka.” He replied, scratching the back of his head nervously. Now he was talking with her, what was he going to do? He wasn’t anticipating this event yet.
“H-Hai, thanks for the offer anyways.” She smiled at him sweetly. Yuri couldn’t resist but blush now. She looked so beautiful in his eyes and the feeling of joy just exploded inside him. It made him happy to know that she had noticed him.
“So, where did Amanda go?” Yuri asked politely, standing beside Alice as the two looked on the pouring rain. For some reason, it hasd become a comforting sight.
“She’s with Ryosuke-san at the moment,” Alice replied in a shy voice. Yuri figured that much. He knew there was something going on between those two. “… she’ll come for me soon.” She smiled. Yuri was getting slightly jealous of her, probably because of the admiration.
“She will.” He smiled as he watched the pouring rain and hear the rhythmic tapping of the rain drops onto the ground.
“Maa,” they heard a familiar voice and looked back to see a panting Amanda behind them. “Gommen Alice~” she apologized and walked up to them.
“It’s alright.” Alice said, clinging onto Amanda’s arm as she got an umbrella. Amanda noticed how happy Alice was and decided not to question anything. “Let’s go? I have lots to tell you!” she smiled. Amanda chuckled and put the umbrella over them and started walking out in the rain.
Yuri watched the two walked into the rain underneath one umbrella. And for a second there, he thought it would be him under with her. Maybe someday it would be him walking her home. Yuri knew all he had to do is wait. He was already off to a good start.
“Lost your chance there.” Ryosuke commented as he watched them leave along with Yuri.
“It’s fine. There will be a next time.” He smiled, opening up his own umbrella and started walking in the rain as well, on his way home.
“Ne,” Amanda complained to the auburn clinging onto her. “You didn’t just accept to let him walk you home.”
“I-I was shy..!!” Alice cutely defended her actions making the other girl sigh. “I wanted to say yes…”
“Well, there’s always a next time he can walk you home..” Amanda smiled.
“Next time, I will definitely say yes.” Alice smiled, remembering Yuri’s smiling face in her mind.
