Or, more specifically, ask LJ Googlers.

Is there any way to search for all the unread messages in gmail? I have one unread message, which is more that 2500 messages back, (I've paged through at least 25 pages of 100 messages), and I just want to find out what it is. And I can't seem to filter on "Unread", which seems idiotic.

Search for "is:unread".

If you have filters set up to bypass your inbox without reading things, this might not help, but "is:unread in:inbox" should do the trick.
