So desperately trying to work . . . failing so badly . . .
Another chill day, which is actually kind of nice--very satisfying to warm up with some tea after a cold morning out. I've always felt that there is more comfort in warming up when cold than there is in cooling off when hot. On a cold day, one can pile on layer after layer of blankets and sweaters and things, or crawl into bed and heap one's entire wardrobe over the covers, and there are no limits to the additions of warmth that one can have. When hot, on the other hand, there are only so many layers of clothing that one can take off before there is nakedness, which comes with its own set of problems (and pleasantries, but that is neither here nor there).
No, my only real objection to the cold is the stiffening of my creaky old fingertips as I force them to move across the keyboard.
Now, in what I hope will be my last act of procrastination for at least the next twenty minutes, a meme redux. I've noticed that the song meme has been going around once more--
[When I first started seeing memes in the journals I read, I looked up the origin of the word "meme." It is, in the loosest sense, a piece of information that replicates among minds, analogous to a gene. It occurs to me that it is more specifically analogous to a viral gene, in that some particularly dynamic LiveJournal memes tend to mutate with rapidity, appearing in slightly different forms across different journals, and that some will cycle out of the general population for a while before coming back around in force. If the analogy holds, some mega-meme is going to pop up any day now, like the Singapore Flu, and infect millions of journals, wreaking havoc wherever it goes.
Come to think of it, what did cause that massive LiveJournal outage . . . ?]
--so I decided to post it again. Over the last several days, whenever I was waiting at the computer, I would add another song from my list. The result: I've doubled its size! Mwah ha ha! Also, only one song per artist, nothing duplicated from the last time I did this, and a couple of foreign language songs. You're all smart enough to deal with the tweaks.
Glory and rewards to the winner, if I can think of anything good. Everyone else gets mocking, derisive laughter.
