theres just something about being outside...

that makes you feel good. today i was relieved of my office duties to babysit my boss's kids while she was in town (she lives in ct). what a day - these kids are like 10, 10 and 13 and are great. very mature and easy to talk to about fun things. so i get to this kids house they are visiting and we played badminton for like an hour swam, went to lunch at ok cafe, went to see evan almighty (i dont particularly recommend this film but they wanted to see it) and then played this mutant form of tennis and baseball. we were outside for most of the time and it was so relaxing. i cant believe i got paid for that. it made me think about how great things are when you are that age, you play outside all the time, have no concept of money really because its not like a 10 year old is taking out their wallet for the bill and these kids even had imaginations (unlike many of the tv, aim, zapped kids out there right now). its a cruel irony that when you are young you want to be older and when you are older you want to be younger. oh and that naps are wasted on the young. think about how sweet it would be if someone came up to you at 2 in the afternoon and said "no really its time for your nap, you have to take this nap" and you did and two hours later you woke up and had a snack and everyone just took care of things in your absence. but back to being outside, something about the combination of physical activity between the hours of 9-5 and the sunlight have left me feeling refreshed. maybe i will ask my boss tomorrow if she would like to get a badminton kit to play during lunch? think she will go for it? i wonder if my apartment building would care if i got one and put it outside, that would be so great! anyone want to play badminton this weekend?
