Pulling the chair up to the desk, I adjust the notepad in front of me to be parallel with the sunshine coming in through the window. I smile as I smooth the silky writing paper down, smelling the rose scent, and fingering the “Mrs. Robert Langlin” engraved across in a silver slant at the bottom of each page. With my mind’s imagination, I talk with the wedding planner as I begin to write my list of to-do items in dark black ink, each point deserving a large bullet point. Each detail silently vies for my attention as my wedding approaches in May.
- Call Mrs. Anderson about the white lilies in my hair.
- Dress fitting with Tara tomorrow at 2pm.
- Deadline of steak or salmon April 30th. No later!
- Ask Mama about the veil - long or short?
- Look at Bridesmaids dresses in catalog. (Pink or Mauve)
I pause to look at the winter landscape. Icicles dance in the setting sun, temporarily blinding me when the wind blows, bringing in the long winter night. I daydream of how my marriage will be like to Bobby, whether we’ll have puppies or kittens, or children right away. We can go to Niagara Falls right after the ceremony and make it an annual trip. I clap my hands like a little girl, feeling the excitement rise up through my stomach and out of my mouth in a little yelp of cheer.

She watches the woman from the door. She turns to the nurse, “Any improvement today Sally?”
“No Ma’am. She’s still planning her wedding, the poor dear.”
The woman sighs softly. “Thank you, Sally. I’ll give her a few more minutes to relive the past before I say Hi.”

A note about format and the piece: I normally work in Microsoft Office: Word and then use html flags to format. However, with the addition of bullet points, I'm forced to use rich text - which I'm not fond of. Sorry for the weird spacing in places and what not.
I wrote this as part of a jump start to my creative juices. I haven't written anything in about a year, mostly due to being spooked by a creative writing class that had destroyed my voice. I'm slowly trying to get back into the swing of things because I sorely miss writing. I decided to do the month out in March and see how it goes. If I don't make until the end, I'm going to do just for fun entries. Practice makes perfect.
