midsummer and going strong

Jun 29, 2010 14:05

Thus far this summer I have been somewhat unjustly fired from one job, worked a series of odd ones, and then found a new and awesome one that I start tomorrow! Nannying, the usual drill, but with four kids. The two are older boys, 14 and 12-year-old muscled proto-men who communicate largely in grunts. You can practically see the brain energy being diverted from language to the important business of shoulder-broadening and misogyny. I'm mostly being employed for the two younger ones- the one girl, eleven, patient and hardy with the long suffering of three brothers upon her, and the youngest boy, seven. For the elders, it'll be mostly driving them around and tracking their various whereabouts, and learning to decipher shrugs.

It is hot hot hot as blazes and I really need to weed the garden (like, badly) but am avoiding it on the convenient yet true risk of heatstroke and total death.
