Basically, this can be read in chunks so if you get bored just skip to the next bit or stop reading. Whichever, I don't think anyone reads this, I'm jus to lazy to spend time physically writing.

Topic #1: Stupid Boys
I was talking to my friend on Facebook who has a British boyfriend, so she has lots of Brits on her friends list and when I saw a comment one of them made, I had to rebute:
Him: why are american places named after english towns. with bew shoved in front. oh yeah cos americans have no imagation, so have to steal town names. us brits are original!
Me: Oh, cause the BRITS who came here and the named the towns in the first place had no imagination, that's why. Just like the Mexicans in the south. It's just an extension of many cultures mixing together to make America. Hence we are awesome.
Besides it's not all new. We have Worcester, Plymouth, Oxford and Rochester with no NEW in front.
Him: couldnt be bothered in putting effort into wht would become a shitty nation
Me: I fail to see how the Brits who left wanted to create a shitty nation on purpose. At that time period traveling across the ocean was permanent unless you had high financial backing, so most were resolved to live out their lives on the East Coast. Besides, they had to protect the the natural resources they wished to exploit, because the British NR weren't enough to satisfy their thirst for money and, for the poor folks, because Britain was getting so damn crowded that those involved with agriculture found there wasn't enough land to go around so that each could properly support themselves. Also, there are the religious immigrants who wished to start settle and create a New World for themselves where they wouldn't be prosecuted: for the Brits specifically English Puritan, English Catholics and Scottish Presbyterians. They put great effort into forming a functioning society from the ground up, with not much help from their bretheren overseas. So, you're wrong, they were quite invested in America. End of rant.
Him: yh well has turned out as greedy fat nation!
Me: Fat you say? Obesity wise, the US is the highest in the world, I'll admit, but the UK is third, so you can't brag. One must also take into account that if 1/3 of America is obsese; that leaves a large number of people who aren't and live a healthy, competent livestyle. Compared to the slightly less than 1/4 population of the UK who are classified as obese, it is unfair to call all of the US fat when we are not, and as a more condensed population then we, you actually have a higer number of obese people per capita, than many parts of the US.
Your calling us out as greedy is a null argument, as in the previous post, I just described how you founded our country partly out of your own greed.
tl:dr Men are idiots no matter what country they come from and I get way too invested in debate for my own good.

Topic # 2: Science
So, I was gone from LJ for two days, because my Science Team made it to state finals. Yeah, it's incredibly hard to win and our state has more teams than any other, so it's no surprise we didn't win. 20th out of 30 something isn't so bad, though. I got 3rd place in model building (shiny medals! woot!), 32nd in anatomy (failure), 15th in ornithology, and 21st in epidemiology, so I don't feel that bad about it. Except it was so hot and we had to wake up at 4 o'clock in the morning in order to get there in time, so I was pretty much exhausted the whole day and wanted sleep through it all. Plus, it was extremely stressful and the boys decided they had to watch Avatar on full volume on Owen's laptop, so that didn't help. Except I was with my friends so it was wonderful. Kinda a Hell/Heaven situation. I ate McDonalds fries for the first time in two years. It wasn't that bad, but I need at elast a year, before I do it again.

Topic #3: Diet
Speaking of food I have had an epiphany:
I could totally do without land meat.
See, I got to thinking, while I was munching on my rice snacks wrapped in seaweed the other day and I thought about how I yelled at my parents for making me eat chicken, lamb, beef and pork, every week on the same day, so that I end up disliking having it. Sure, at top notch restaurants it would be nice, but eliminating it from my diet would be perferable. I love Asian food though, so I would eat a wide variety fish and seafood all the time as a subsitute (octopus is delicious and tastes kinda like chicken, but not, [fear my descriptive abilities of DOOM]). Not that I'm saying Asian food doesn't utilize the aforementioned meats, but they do miracles with seafood which would more than compensate.

Topic # 4: Doctor Who
My friend Toria finally got the Black Guardian trilogy (after much coaxing from me and sending her YouTube clips of ginger awesome) and we watched it together and I realized once again why I love it so much. Major fangirl spazzing ensued. I actually went home and hugged my own copy which I had preordered in November. She loves it too (although more for Brig than Turlough, although she's fond of him) and that's good; Mawdryn Undead is so fantastic. She's not even a slasher, but she admitted she sees hint of Five/Turlough. My plan to infect the youthful innocent minds is close to fruition MUAH!
Although, wandering down the hallways reciting the script word for word might make us seem crazy, but I don't care!
Time of the Angels was a fantastic ep last Saturday, although I still have to see Flesh and Stone. Looking forward to it.
Fanfic Rec time: Alternate universes, an evil doctor, a Jamie/Two love story, heartbreaking (I cried five times), Daleks that actually frighten, good plotting and lots of tropes that are pulled of so fantastically you don't even care. AU, Dark, NC-17

Topic # 5: Shakespeare
I was reading Macbeth the other day (one of my favorite plays) and I found some passages that may sound a little dodgy out of context:
Act III Scene 1:
MACBETH: Ride you this afternoon?
BANQUO: Aye, my good lord.
Act III, Scene 1 (I'm too lazy to flip back and look for more examples, these are the ones that jumped out at me):
MACBETH: So is he mine and in such bloody distance
That every minute of his being thrusts
Against my near'st of life. And though I could
With barefaced power sweep him from my sight
And bid my will avouch it, yet I must not.
So, does Shakespeare character slash exist or am I the only one reading too much into this? I've always thought Mercutio was bisexual (even when I was seven) and possibly Benvolio, but I'd never considered Banquo/Macbeth. DOES IT EXIST? o_O
