Life is that much closer to being complete again! After the annual Circus-forced west coast jaunt, the Bruins had their home opener today -- and energetic and exciting 4-1 victory over Tampa Bay. Tim Thomas has once again stood on his head, and the aggressive plays are exciting and clicking pretty well for the young'uns.
But more importantly for me, tonight is what may be a peview of the Frozen Four Championship games for college hockey. Number Four Boston College is hosting pre-season top ranked North Dakota for their home opener. We almost never play the Fighting Sioux except during the Frozen Four, and they'e gotten the best of us in most of the contests.
I'm definitely at the game! Ok, I'm there because I'm working the game... but by the start of the second period, the luxury boxes will all be fed, Pike's Peak closed down, and I'll be in the audience, watching at least a dozen folks that will be noteworthy players in the NHL within the next five years.
Speaking of which, I happen to have a few extra tickets if anyone is interested -- call and I'll get one out to you.
Only one thing is gnawing at the excitement... the rather odd and absurd realization that for what is probably the first time in 50+ years, BC Football is ranked higher (3rd in country? wtf?) than the Men's Hockey team. Very Odd. Very Good, but Very, Very Odd.
