new stuff and old stuff (stuff in general)
i've finally decided to take the plunge. i'm going to *attempt* to knit this: http://knitty.com/ISSUEfall04/PATTclapotis.html
ordered yarn (noro silk garden in colorway 224) along with yarn to make the DNA scarf for my boss...for next christmas (although it seems more of a managable size for an airline flight, so it may get knitted well before then...) which reminds me: i only have metal cable needles - do airlines allow those (they're small and curved - unless i'm trying to "fish" for the flight attendant, i doubt much more could be done with it)
have almost finished my second sock ever - too bad it doesn't match the first one. anyways.

mom has surgery on thursday...i'm not sure what to think about it. all i know is that i'm worried, and i'll be a lot happier when i hear she's OUT of surgery and that it went well.

i'm trying some cell free expression tomorrow. despite the fact that invitrogen's website on the stuff suggests that it can be done in 2 hours, when you actually read the directions you find out that 6 hours is required for optimal expression.
