This weekend has been incredible.

Friday: Drove to Boston (listened to the Shins the whole way down), hung out with family, ate Chinese food, ate ice cream, caught up with cousins, etc.

Saturday morning: Becky's bat mitzvah - She has the most beautiful voice I've ever heard, and I'm not lying. She's 13 years old, and her voice is as pure as an angel's. It's not tainted by the obnoxious vibrato that most singers think makes their voices sound beautiful. Just pure... notes. No poppish scooping, no stupid ornaments. Just purity.

Saturday afternoon: The bat mitzvah party was cool - more catching up with relatives.

Then I took a train to South Station and a bus back to Portland. I was so nervous, because I HAD to make that bus, and if I didn't, we'd be screwed for what came next...

Saturday night: PASSING LANE and AS FAST AS at the Deering Grange Hall. There were less people than I expected - I was expecting over 100, and there were probably around 50ish. Whatever, that's still a big number.

I've noticed that with each show that we play, I have more and more fun. When we first started out, I'd be so nervous about playing everything correctly and keeping the time and all that shit. Now I'm just like "fuck it, let's play," and it sounds so much better. And it feels so much better. I had a blast.

As Fast As are great. They're so great. They rocked the shit out of everything. Their last song (before the encore) was Helter Skelter, which they absolutely KILLED. It was great. Also, earlier in the set, they played "Creep," with Spencer playing ukulele. Apparently it was Radiohead Night at the Grange - we played "Punch-up at a Wedding" and "My Iron Lung." Awesome.

Later Saturday night: :-)

Sunday: It's nice out, and I think I'm going to the beach with some people.
