CHAPTER TWO:
When Jaejoong arrived home later that evening, the phone was ringing. Calling out, but getting no response, he realized that Junsu hadn't returned yet. Quickly picking up, Jaejoong finds his Umma on the line.
"Hi, Umma! How is everything at home?"
"We're all fine Jaejoong-ah, your Appa says to tell you boys Hello and that he loves you." Umma snorted and then whispered.
"You know your Appa, if he tried to tell you himself he'd start to cry."
Jaejoong had to smile. His Appa was a sweetheart of a man.
"Tell him we love him too. What's up?"
"I'm just calling to let you know that I've had a call from your Aunt and she said that Heechul is extending his stay in America. She doesn't know how long."
Jaejoong shared a three bedroom apartment with his brother Junsu and usually their cousin Heechul. Since all three Kim cousins attended the same school it just made sense for them to live together.
Their apartment was on the top floor so it also included the roof as well. Jaejoong had a garden up there filled with herbs and vegetables and lots of large potted plants. It was his favorite part of the apartment and the reason he insisted that they take it.
Their cousin Heechul was vibrant and a terrible tease. One of those lucky people who were never at a loss for words. You don't ever want to get into a verbal war with Heechul because you will lose. At first glance he seemed to be horribly vain and completely unserious, but that was just the face he presented to the world. Once you got to know him you began to see the real Heechul peeking through the brashness. There was no one more loyal than Heechul. No one cared or watched out for family and friends like Heechul did. Mess with the people Heechul loves and you will never know what hit you.
Jaejoong missed his presence in their apartment. Having graduated the previous year, Chullie had decided to spend a year driving all over the U.S.
"So Chullie is enjoying America? Why didn't he call us himself?"
"Your Aunt said that he wouldn't have any phone service where he was going." Jaejoong could hear the shrug in her voice. "I don't know, something about canyons. Anyway, when he spoke to her he asked her to let you know, but when I spoke with her I told her I'd pass on the message for her. I've been meaning to call and see how you boys were doing. Is Junsu there?"
"No Umma, he's...", at that moment Jaejoong heard the front door open. "Wait Umma, he just came in."
Turning to Su Jaejoong said, "It's Umma."
"Bye, Umma.", he said, then handed the phone to Junsu.
As Su started talking, Jaejoong slipped into his bedroom. He needed to get ready and he wanted to take a quick shower first. Undressing and wrapping a towel around his waist Jaejoong headed to the bathroom. Changmin's shift had ended several hours before his own and he sincerely hoped that Min went home and got some sleep. Jaejoong was going to meet Changmin at his place and then they'd go to the club together.
Finishing quickly Jaejoong emerged to find Junsu ready to go.
"Did Umma tell you about Chullie?"
"Yeah, I wonder when he's coming home?" Junsu looked at his watch, "Oh, gotta go. I'll see you at the club."
Jaejoong nodded as he headed back into his bedroom. The cool air from the fan in his room hit the droplets of water still clinging to his body, making him shiver. (A/N: Looking like my own personal wet dream...I'll warm you up baby ;P)
Stepping up to his closet Jae selected black pants and a long sleeved black v-neck shirt. It was soft and clung in all the right places. Over that he put a black jacket. A watch, a bracelet, a necklace and he was ready to go. Tucking his keys and his wallet into his pockets he headed out the door. He was a little early and Min didn't live too far away so Jaejoong decided to walk.
Even though it didn't have an elevator, Jaejoong's apartment building had a lobby. Changmin's didn't, the stairs to his apartment went up the front of the building.
Trotting up the steps to Min's apartment Jaejoong knocked and waited, but no answer. Knocking harder he was just about to use his key when the door opened and there stood Changmin in nothing but his boxers and a bad case of bed head.
"Were you still sleeping? Do you want to just skip the club?"
Min mumbled what sounded to Jaejoong like a no and headed back towards his room. Jaejoong followed, closing the door and as Min stripped his boxers off and headed into the shower, Jae followed him into the bathroom.
Lifting the seat so that he could take a piss Jaejoong said, "You know Min, if you're tired you should just rest."
"M'okay. Jusneedawakeup."
Face under the spray, a yawn caught Changmin unawares and he started to cough and choke.
Finishing his business Jae began to zip himself up.
"Did you invite Maki?"
Horikita Maki was Changmin's girlfriend, a Japanese exchange student living in South Korea for her senior year of High school. They met at the library and she and Changmin had been dating for a few months.
"No. She isn't quite eighteen yet." Changmin yawned again. "She wouldn't be able to get in."
"Oh, that's right." Suddenly an evil grin spread itself across Jaejoong's face as he looked at the misty form of his friend in the shower. Slowly reaching out his hand, he flushed the toilet.
"AaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhJaejoooooong!"
Roaring with laughter Jaejoong escaped into the bedroom.
Lounging back on Min's bed Jaejoong pulled both pillows underneath his head and made himself comfortable.
He was still chuckling when Changmin emerged from the bathroom a few minutes later.
"You're an ass."
Jaejoong grinned unrepentantly.
"You scream like a girl."
Jaejoong continued to grin at Min as he got dressed in white pants and jacket with a beige shirt underneath.
"Does your girlfriend get jealous when you go out without her?"
Jaejoong was curious, he liked Maki, but didn't know her very well. With the way Changmin's schooling went, Min didn't have a lot of spare time. A lot of their "dates" took place in the library. Trust Changmin to find a girlfriend who was just as studious as he was.
"No. She trusts me. When are you going to get a girlfriend?"
"Girlfriends cost money. Money that I could be saving for my restaurant and anyway, I don't have time for a girlfriend. I don't see how you do."
"I make time." Min said."I never had a girlfriend in High school, I was too busy trying to finish early. I've got it a lot easier now that I'm in college." Changmin turned at Jae's disbelieving snort.
"It's true. My workload was triple what a normal High school student handles. You think my professors are task masters? My parents are worse. They pushed me hard. They actually wanted me to take one summer to study and try to skip all four years. Luckily my principle wouldn't allow it."
Jaejoong is horrified to imagine it. "Why would they even want you to skip grades? What is the point?"
"They are proud of my intelligence and are very competitive. For them it was just another thing to 'win' at."
"Win? Win what?"
Changmin shrugged as he combed his hair,"Bragging rights maybe, I don't know. I know that I never wanted to skip grades. However, if they hadn't made me work so hard I wouldn't have met you and Su and Maki and we never would have become friends. So I guess I should be grateful to them."
Turning he smiled at Jaejoong. "Anyway, like I said, you just have to make time. Though it does help that Maki likes to study. You ready?"
"Let's go."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"No way."
"You could not."
"I could SO get any guy in here!"
If there was one thing Kang Eun Bi didn't lack, it was confidence. However, her friends Tiffany and Stephanie didn't share her views and Stephanie was getting sick of listening to her boast.
"Prove it! We'll pick a guy and you get him to ask you out."
"No way! You'll pick a loser!"
"No we won't! We'll pick a hottie." Scanning the club Stephanie didn't see anyone who caught her eye. Then she caught sight of three guys and a girl walking up to the bar. They talked for a minute then one of the guys took the girl onto the dance floor. The other two stayed at the bar and ordered drinks. As the shorter of the two turned around, Stephanie's breath caught. He was gorgeous. He looked over the club's occupants with an uncurious eye. He didn't seem to be looking to get laid. Perfect. Hot guy, not on the prowl. Ding!Ding!Ding! Ladies and gentlemen we have a winner!
Grabbing Eun Bi's arm Stephanie jerked her head in the direction of the hottie at the bar.
"Him. I bet you can't get him to ask you out."
"Oh, my. He's pretty." Tiffany was a master of understatement. Not being very bright, it was the only thing she was master of.
In the strobing lights the stranger seemed to glow and Stephanie had a hard time looking away.
"What do I win if I succeed?"
Tearing her gaze away from the eye candy at the bar Stephanie looks at Eun Bi incredulously.
"Other than the chance to spend the evening with HIM? What more do you want?!"
Eun Bi thinks for a moment.
"I want the shoes you bought yesterday."
"What?! Those cost me a thousand dollars!"
"Afraid I'll win?"
Thinking it over Stephanie decided that it was a small price to pay. Either Eun Bi failed and was totally humiliated or she succeeded and they were rid of her for the night. Either way Stephanie won. And anyway, she could always buy more shoes.
"You're on."
Tiffany clapped "How fun!"
"But if you lose you have to run naked through the campus grounds."
Eun Bi started to sputter.
"Don't think you can do it?"
That shut her up.
"Oh I can do it. I told you, I can get any guy I want. Just watch me." And with that she headed to the bar and the dark headed stranger.
~Riiing~Riiing~
Jaejoong looked over as Changmin's phone went off.
"It's Maki, I'd better take this outside." Turning away, finger in one ear, Min headed for the door, unwittingly leaving Jaejoong to the mercy of the annoying human torpedo zeroing in on him.
Taking another sip of his fruit juice Jaejoong is aware that someone is sitting in Changmin's seat only when she taps him on the shoulder.
"Hi!"
"Um, Hi." Jae can tell right away that this girl was to be avoided like the plague. She smiled at him, but it never reached her eyes. Jaejoong could see that she was totally fake. He hated that.
"I'm Kang Eun Bi."
"Kim Jaejoong." He needed to get out of there. Where was Changmin when he needed him?!
Eun Bi immediately went into full-on-attack-mode, she pulled out all the stops. She flirted, acted cute enough to make a smurf vomit and even "accidentally" let him see down the front of her shirt.
Much to her frustration and anger Eun Bi could see that she was getting nowhere fast. He was starting to quietly panic and look around and she knew it was just a matter of time before he pulled the Oh-my-friend-is-calling-to-me routine and slipped out of her grasp. It was time to play dirty.
"Can I buy you a drink?"
"Thanks, but, I don't really drink."
"I promise to order you something tame. I'm not much of a drinker myself, but even I can handle a-a Fluffy Bunny."
When he still looked reluctant she pleaded, "I have to leave soon...just one drink?"
At his reluctant nod Eun Bi smiled and gestured to the bartender. Holding up a finger she said in English,
"One Green Demon."
That should knock him on his ass. Then he'll be putty in my hands. She cackled in her head.
Jaejoong didn't want to drink with her, but he didn't want to be rude either. It's just one drink. He thought to himself and hopefully he'd then be able to slip away. He and his friends didn't come to the club to drink, just to dance and hang out. Jaejoong didn't drink very often, he didn't handle it very well, but a Fluffy Bunny didn't sound too bad.
He didn't understand the English, but he understood the one finger.
"Make it two." He ordered one for her too. He'd be polite, finish quickly and leave. Blinded by the light at the end of the tunnel, Jaejoong didn't notice the worried look that scampered across her over-made up face.
Eun Bi really wasn't much of a drinker. She'd been telling the truth about that. Not sure what she should do, Eun Bi glanced back and caught sight of her friends. Stephanie smiled and waved mockingly at her. Straightening her spine, Eun Bi was determined not to lose. When the drinks came she made sure Jaejoong took a healthy swallow before she started sipping at hers.
"This isn't bad." Jaejoong had no idea what was in a Fluffy Bunny, but he was already feeling pretty fluffy himself.
"You wanna dance?" since Jaejoong had already finished his drink, she couldn't let him leave until he really felt the effects of it. What she didn't know was that he was already feeling the effects of it. She was also unaware that she was too.
"Sure."
Whoa. That was easy. Eun Bi smirked to herself. See, no man can resist me.
Heading to the floor they found a spot and started to dance. The music was loud and the air was stuffy and hot. By the time the song ended they were sweaty, out of breath and thirsty.
Stepping back up to the bar, Jaejoong removed his jacket and gestured to the bartender for two more.
As they drank round two Jaejoong realized (through the magic of alcohol) that Eun Bi wasn't so bad after all. Why had he been trying so hard to ditch her? And why hadn't he noticed earlier how hot she was? Grabbing her hand he led her back onto the dance floor.
The bass was low and pounding, sexy. Sliding his hands down Eun Bi's sides, Jaejoong gripped her hips and started swaying against her. Thanks to the "Fluffy Bunnies" Eun Bi no longer remembered that this was just a bet. All she knew was that the hottest guy she had ever seen was pressed up against her. Sliding her hands slowly up the soft material covering his chest she was surprised to feel how toned he was. Eun Bi wrapped her arms around Jaejoong's neck and nibbled on his ear as he rocked their hips to the music.
Donghae watches Yunho as Yunho watches Jaejoong. It's official. He thinks to himself, Operation: Get Yunho's Mind Off of Kim Jaejoong is a complete bust. And Operation: Get Yunho Laid won't ever see the light of day. Knowing that Yunho wasn't going to look at anyone else as long as Jaejoong was in the vicinity, Donghae gives up on his plans for the evening. Heaving a sigh of resignation Donghae makes his way to the bar where a lovely young woman had caught his eye earlier.
Yunho doesn't notice him leave. The moment Yunho had seen Jaejoong make his way onto the dance floor everything else had faded away. He was both turned on and devastated to see Jaejoong grinding up against that girl. Moving around the dance floor so he can keep Jaejoong in his sights, Yunho stares, mesmerized, at a Jaejoong he has only ever imagined.
Loose limbed, covered in a sheen of sweat and caught up in his own sensuality. He took Yunho's breath away. The look on Jaejoong's face alone makes Yunho instantly hard. The lights flash off of the sweat in the hollow of Jaejoong's throat and Yunho swallows painfully.
He imagines that it is him dancing with Jaejoong and his body Jaejoong is running graceful hands over. Heart in his throat, Yunho watches as Jaejoong leads her to the door. They are leaving, together, and Yunho knows full well what is going to happen between them. He is completely envious of that nameless woman. Never before has he ever wished that he was a girl, but he almost does now.
His heart hurts to know that Jaejoong will never look at him that way. That he will never get to look into Jaejoong's beautiful face as Jaejoong surrenders himself with abandon to an ecstacy evoked in him by Yunho, calling out Yunho's name as the pleasure takes him. A Kim Jaejoong in the full throes of intense sexual pleasure, the mental images alone are almost enough to bring Yunho to his knees. The real thing would probably kill me he thinks to himself. He knows that he would be willing to risk it. The worst part in all of this is that he will never get that chance.
Because Jaejoong was straight Yunho would never have the opportunity to try with him. To see if maybe they could be happy together for the rest of their lives, as sappy as that sounds. To strike out was bad enough, but to never even get to step up to the plate? That was so much worse.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Finally getting back to the bar Changmin finds Jaejoong is nowhere in sight. Standing on his toes he scans the club and spots his friend just in time to see Jaejoong heading out the door with a woman. From the way Jae is walking Min would almost think he was drunk. Following after him, Min gets to the door just in time to see Jaejoong and the girl stumble into a cab. Heading back inside he goes looking for Junsu.

"Yoochun. Yoooo-Chuuuun. YOOCHUN!"
Yoochun finally looks at his best friend, Jihoon.
"What on Earth are you staring at?", Jihoon asks.
Taking a sip of his drink, Yoochun says, "You remember that guy I told you about? Yunho?"
Jihoon thinks for a moment.
"Your first lover? The one who cheated on you?"
"That's the one."
"What about him?"
Yoochun says, "See that guy over there," while gesturing to Yunho. When his friend nods he says, "That's him."
Jihoon noticed that Yunho seemed to be staring pretty intently himself.
"What is he looking at?"
Yoochun smirks and points to Jaejoong.
"He's drooling over that Pretty right there." His smirk widens into a grin. "The one who is wrapped so tight around that girl that when he steps away we'll probably hear a sound like velcro."
Yoochun laughs, hard. "Yunho has the hots for a straight guy!"
"What's so funny? So he wants a straight guy. He'll find a gay one and get over it."
Yoochun shakes his head and says,
"No. I know Jung Yunho and that look says that he knows that guy. Yunho was always shy. My guess is that he is crushing on Pretty from afar."
Jihoon says, watching Yoochun's face, "If that is true, then he must be hurting pretty bad."
"Yeah," Yoochun says with a satisfied smile, "Yunho must be in a lot of pain. I should find out who that guy is and send him flowers."
Yoochun is happy to see that the object of Yunho's affections likes girls. Yunho's heartbreak is food to Yoochun's hunger for retribution. He spends the rest of the evening in a very good mood indeed.
