Over the past few months I think I've been using the computer too much at work and at home and as a result I realized today that I've been in pain every day for the last two weeks. Mostly my neck and my arm/wrist.
Most of it is because my main source of entertainment is reading my flist, participating in the
legendland community challenges, and basically converting stories into ebook format and etc....Almost everything I like to do involves sitting in front of a computer or sitting on the couch (mostly reading or watching TV).
I've come to the realization that I need to cut back even more of my online time at home if I want to prevent serious damage to my body if it's not already too late. :( And possibly be more consistent with taking breaks at work to get up and walk around for five minutes, not just stand up for a minute every 30 minutes and sit back down again.
I'm not sure when my online life became my life and I like to say that I use my computer as a tool but the idea of not having access to my computer and being completely cut off is sort of scary. However, it's equally scary to realize that I'm only 30 and I have chronic neck pain. The hard part is that I don't have many friends in Alaska to go do things with and I don't want to just go to bars and drink and socialize.
Yesterday evening I filtered my LJ reading list down even further. I think it kind of grew out of control two years ago when I worked at a job that had unlimited internet access and way too much time to kill.
Now I don't have free access to everything on the internet when I'm at work and I certainly do not have too much free time.
It's taking me 45 minutes to an hour to catch up on LJ/DW posts. I'd like to bring that down to 15 minutes if possible. I'm not sure it should take that long to read through posts if you're gone from the internet for 16 hours.
