this never ceases to amuse me

I'm borrowing the DVD Armageddon because it's one of my favorite movies ever and so tonight I go to put the legally bought version (that I had to beg and plead with my brother to part with for a month or two or until I go to San Antonio to visit my mom and him again) into my desktop DVD player...nothing happens.

At this point I have one of two choices, either rip the dvd with my laptop dvd player (which for some reason will recognize the dvd) or download the damn movie via torrents. I'm still debating on which one will be quicker to accomplish...keeping in mind I'd have to transfer the ripped dvd to my desktop (all 6 gigs) I'm not a happy camper tonight.

However, the rest of my weekend went rather well. I got the chance to visit my dad one last time before he heads for Iraq (for the third time), my parent's got Wookie their pet Shih-tzu to the vet in time to get an Benadryl (not sure what he got into but his face started to swell up and my parents rushed him to the vet, he's OK now) Got to see Spiderman 3 (Harry made the movie for me) hung out with my brother, saw Romancing the Stone again for the first time in about 10 years, my husband had never seen it and my brother and I were game to watch it again. I'd forgotten how funny the movie is, I loved it.

On the downside, allergies are kicking my ass, my nose is starting to hurt and I have no non-drowsy allergy medicine so tomorrow I'll have to pick some up at the pharmacy.

I didn't get a chance to read a lot this weekend and actually I'm trying to take a small break away from fan fiction for awhile because I don't want to overdo it to the point where I can't read Supernatural fan fiction.

My goal for this upcoming week is to also find some online writing exercises that I can try and accomplish so that I can become more comfortable with writing again. I realized that after I graduated college I haven't really done much in the way of formal writing or informal writing beyond what's written in my LJ and through emails. I feel out of practice and uncomfortable writing fiction.
