16 Random Things
One of the few viral Facebook things that I actually thought was interesting. For those who don't know you're supposed to come up with 16 random things about you and tag 16 people, who in turn lather, rinse and repeat. Here goes...
1. I have only been to two lindy hop exchanges since 2004 just after my move to Texas; one of them being this past weekend, ALX-IX. I'm hoping to change this a bit in the future. However, this isn't saying that I haven't been traveling, I've just been in the blues circuit all this time.
2. I bite my nails. Nothing but nubs on the ends of these fingers, yet I love to have my back and head scratched. Oh, and did I mention massages? Save those wimpy ones for someone else though.
3. When people ask me what I'm going to school for and I tell them Behavior Analysis, it often follows with a comment such as "Oh, so you're analyzing me right now?" or "I bet you'd get a lot of material from so and so." I hate that. My job remains separate from my social life, unless you are going to pay me for it.
4. I never wanted to be a teacher and hated children. I now work at a center for children with autism and love it. At this time I still do not want my own kids, but am happy to make a difference in the lives of other families instead.
5. What? Did you say potatoes? Bacon? Nutella? nom nom...
I like peanut butter, and I love chocolate, but not much of a fan of the two together. And I have issues with texture. I stay away from seafood and gag when around grilled cheese and yogurt.
6. Sometimes when I go to concerts I count things in the audience. For Styx it was mullets. For John Mayer it was racks (the artificial variety) and cracks (cuz the thong out of pants was very popular then).
7. I love to be serenaded with music, especially the guitar. However, there's been a lack of this in my life the past few years so I've taken up teaching myself to serenade. Don't think you'd want me to do it over candlelight any time soon though.
8. I love food but I don't cook. Not because I can't but because I don't like to put in the effort just to feed myself.
9. I'm a pretty big tomboy. I love football, video games, poker, beer, and sometimes even science fiction (as long as its not of the Star Trek variety). I belch. I sometimes pee with the door open. Yes, I've even peed in a urinal. My mind is often in the gutter. I rarely wear skirts or dresses. I'm much more at home in jeans and cotton blended pants and tops. The only thing that really keeps me girly is my lack of playing sports or many other physical activities.
10. John Cusack is my dream man. I tend to fall in love with my friends as opposed to someone I just met. I'm discovering a liking for romance, but it still throws me off at times. I typically fall for intellect over looks.
11. I have a degree in human sexuality. I used to want to be the next Sue Johannson. Now I'm considering a potential career shift in a few years to sex education for adolescents with developmental disabilities. If you are to make an argument against the existence of such jobs I suggest the movies "Benny and Joon" and "The Other Sister" before approaching me.
12. I am a true believer in karma and the Golden Rule. Treat others with love and respect, or you will get yours. However, I'm far from perfect...but am working on that.
13. I'm probably one of the most up front people you'll ever meet. I don't have much of a filter and will tell you pretty much anything you'd like to know if you ask me, and sometimes even when you don't. I wear my emotions clearly and am a bad liar. I have no secrets about myself.
14. I love to cuddle. I'll take a good hug over a roll in the sack any day.
15. It's 11:11, make a wish. I'm not superstitious, nor do I truly believe in horoscopes or tarot but I still find what they have to say interesting and will often look into astrological advice for fun. It may have to do with the fact that most of what is said about Virgos fits me pretty well. I've also wasted endless hours on personality quizzes and the like as well. Sometimes I even claim some items as good luck charms.
16. If you want to know anything else about me you should ask my friends, because they could tell you much more than my family ever could.
