Rogue was the air he breathed, the beat in his heart, the blood coursing through his veins but she was untouchable.
Leaning against the wall, Rogue watched Gambit as she brought an apple to her mouth but abruptly pulling it from her mouth unfortunately aware of the symbolism of temptation.
There's wasn't a specific beginning to their relationship and Rogue hoped there wouldn't be an end either as she clung to Gambit's strong frame.
When Rogue rolled her eyes at yet another come-on from Gambit, he couldn't help but smile at her he knew it didn’t actually bugged her when he knew she loved the game.
Grasping her steaming coffee mug, Rogue stole a glance at Remy who was sitting on the counter near the door even though he far away from her she felt her heart jump in her throat at the tempting sight.

Rogue could see the darkness in Remy as she gently took the side of his face in her hands, whispering the words that would echo for a lot more than she knew, "Trust me."
As Remy's memories swapped over her, Rogue felt two different types of despair: his and her own.
Feelings were like swinging doors, opening and closing, but Remy realized without knowing her long that his feelings for Rogue was not the same.
During a night out with the girls, Rogue knew her intention was to get drunk, but she could never know that her outing would be an asset to Remy's personal intentions.
As an X-Men Rogue's duty was clear and love wasn't something required or wanted, but one look at Remy's red eyes made her thoughts of duty and work fly out the window.

Lifting Remy in her arms, Rogue jumped into the air, flying him above the earth where they could be alone.
Remy closed his eyes, his hands ached to touch her smooth skin, to feel her warmth beneath his fingertips, but in the end, all the thought was was a dream.
Remy watched the blast hit Rogue hard and ran to catch her as she fell, but she hit the earth before he could reach her.
Rogue lit a fire deep in his body, in his heart, warming is very core with a hot passion and desire that could not be put out.
Rogue wasn't flexible; she just wouldn't bend to Remy's will when it came to his own safety even when he practically begged her to.

The first time Remy flew was when he was being held in Rogue's arms and felt safer in the air than he had on the ground.
After the Blackbird touched down and the team filed off, Rogue's stomach growled, making her receive a knowing grin from Remy.

Rogue threw herself down on the couch, wondering once again why she always inserted her foot in her mouth when Remy turned on the charm.

Standing over Jean's grave, Rogue let Remy pull her into the comfort and safety of his arms before she finally broke down into tears.

As Remy stared into Rogue's green eyes he saw something he had thought he'd give up on: his future.

Gambit never could quite understand Rogue and never knew what was going on in her head.
Knowing that Rogue was gone, and especially when it was his fault for allowing her to get into his memories to help him, left Gambit to feel hollow and empty inside, like his heart was ripped out.
There were two reasons to fight: for honor and for life, and as long as Gambit was fighting for Rogue, he was fighting for both.

Rogue came back, but the scars of her new knowledge changed their relationship, and Gambit could only hope that he could fix the damage.

Gambit could see the light in the distance and knew it was his time, but Rogue grabbed him, holding onto him and kissing him like she never had before, anchoring him to life.

Gambit fell on top of Rogue, knowing they hadn't lost the battle, but they could lose their lives.

The idea that Gambit had metal for a heart instead of flesh and blood was misunderstood and wrong, and Rogue was the one woman he wanted to know that.

It was new; this being able to feel Gambit's skin beneath Rogue's fingertips without gloves was new - and it felt better than she could ever had imagined.

Gambit's past was old news, but Rogue's feelings weren't.
Rogue knew that Gambit deserved to find peace, but she wasn't going to let him go "into the light"
without a fight.

Rogue's touch was poisonous, but Gambit would gladly take the poison in to be able to touch her like he ached to.

Dressed in a pink dress without gloves, Rogue looked so pretty it took Remy's breath away as he tried to figure out what to do without his powers.
As the rain fell around them, Rogue clung to Gambit, relishing in the feel of his lips finally on hers.
Regret wasn't all Rogue left behind when she left Gambit in Antarctica.
Gambit gave Rogue roses on their first date, and despite herself, she liked them.

Rogue wanted to reveal her secrets to Gambit, including her name, but Gambit stopped her, telling her without words that he respected secrecy as who she was.
The Savage Land was filled with reptiles and monsters, but Gambit couldn't believe Rogue was squeamish around simple snakes.
Joseph had given Rogue her present when the snow was falling around her, but Gambit gave her a present each and every time he looked at her with love and longing.

After so much death and hurt, Gambit was Rogue's something solid to hang onto and lean on when she was weak and unsure.

Rogue was always the first one to spring into action, the first to volunteer for a mission, and Gambit always thought it just might get her killed one day, so he always offered to go with her so he could secretly protect her.

Before the X-Men, Rogue's life was anything but stable, but here, at the X-Mansion and with this team, she had found stability, and with Gambit, she knew she had found love whether she wanted to or not.
Rogue knew her powers made it impossible for her to be normal, but Gambit didn't care so she decided neither did she.
It was summer when they first met, and all Gambit could do was look at her, soak in the beauty that was Rogue.
Touching, sex, and love was all taboo to Rogue, but Gambit knew that he could be the one to teach her they were attainable.
Rogue knew that Gambit had ugliness in his past that sometimes tarnished his present and put a black cloud around his future, but she didn't care anymore as long as he was with her.

As heroes Gambit and Rogue endured war and death, striking at the most unexpected moments, but the most unexpected war was with their feelings that they fought each day.
For years Gambit watched Rogue flow through life like she was water cutting through the land and creating its own path.
Despite her powers, Gambit kept telling Rogue that her touch was always welcome and the aftermath was just something to accept.
Bundled in a winter coat and gloves, Gambit wrapped his arms around Rogue, pulling her to his chest and resting his chin on her shoulder.
"Knock on wood, suga," Rogue whispered to Gambit when he told her he loved her.
