Montana winter

For those of you with a romantic view of Montana, we have had five days of high temperatures being around -20°F and wind chills of -60°F. Yes. MINUS SIXTY. Today it warmed up to -2°F and should be clear of sub zero highs in a few days. Doesn't it make you think about our forebears? Go back to any time before about 1800. All those houses heated with wood, all those heavy wool cloaks against the cold. Going out in a carriage or on horseback. Or what did the native people do in pre-Montana in the year 1000? Were they keeping the longhouse warm with a fire?

I think our forebears bore a lot of unimaginable discomfort and would amazed and envious at our lovely lot.
