Not a weight related post or a rant but just a bit of venting that has been tucked in my mind for a while now. Ever since I moved in with my cousins last year ive been hearing way more about god, religion, yada yada, etc. Im not a religious person myself even though I was raised religious. I had a very religious mom and a non religious step dad. My mom used to drag me and my brothers to church growing up and I had to wear the puffy itchy church dress with matching hat and uncomfortable shoes. I couldn't stand church then and still cant now. I never felt like I belonged in church and never believed in god even when I thought I was christian when I was a ignorant child, unknowledgeable about the world and other religions. As I turned 14 I realized that I didn't have to pretend to be religious and go to church with my mom if I didn't want to and started to venture out of Christianity. Today I am not religious and I'm a atheist.
My cousins are orthodox Christians which is what people in Eritrea and Ethiopia are. They are EXTRELEY religious people and it seems like a lot of things related to god or christianity. Although they know about my being non religious they have respected the way I think and believe which I appreciate a lot. It does get very annoy when randomly the family starts talking about god and the bible, it makes me feel uncomfortable and then I end u going to my room and staying there to avoid awkward situations. Anyways what this post is about is is my little 13 year old cousins keeps asking her dad the dumbest question.
Im not saying what she believes in as far as her religion but what she says about it in general like a few minutes ago she was asking her dad "do people burn in hell" and "are there angels in heaven". lol, seriously what does she learn going to church, nothing? I mean really I learned those things in church by the time I was 5. I know way more about the bible than she does yet I don't even believe in it. It just gets annoying after a while with her stupid questions and even her dad says they are dumb questions. Idk, it seems like this family revolves around religion and the bible and god all the time. And a big part of the culture revolves around religions.
