Okay, so… we all know by now that I have a Thing for cooking up custom prompt tables and using them to plot things, and sometimes they end up producing fic, but sometimes, they don't-but this time, I'm really hoping that it'll be the former rather than the latter.
There's a story to this prompt table and the fic/ficlet collection/THINGY THINGY STUFF THING that I'm hoping to write based on this collection of prompts (all lovingly pilfered from
hc_bingo). So, once upon a time,
finnickodair and I roleplayed a scenario in which Dean was a trans* woman and Cas was a cis guy, and Dean was deeply in denial about her gender identity and kind of self-abusive about it for a lot of reasons (thank you, John Winchester), and Dean was also deeply upset that, because she was born with a dick instead of a uterus, she could never get pregnant with Cas's babies.
…This fic is sort of loosely inspired by that RP. I say, "loosely" because all that's really staying the same here is, "college AU-ish, cis!Cas is dating trans* woman!Dean, who is deeply in denial and has a lot of complicated feelings about her gender identity (due in no small part to John Winchester and his cissexism/transphobia and all the ways in which he is a shit father)."
Aside from that basic premise, the fic idea has mostly taken on a life of its own (due in no small part to Mik/archgayngel@tumblr, who has been the most fantastic enabler), and picked up a bunch of other things that I want to work into it somehow, like, "Dean goes to Rhonda, who is also trans* and asks for advice on how to be trans*, and Rhonda has to explain that… no, honey, no, there isn't just one way to be trans*," and, "Dean is chubby but she just wants to be thin enough to share clothes with Rhonda, you get three tries to guess how this goes and the first two don't count," and, "Sam tries to be understanding, but he has trouble with things, so he overcompensates a lot."
…but aside from that, I have no earthly idea how this project is going to go or when I'm going to do it or anything; I just wanted a prompt table to help prod it along.
