1. Same specific ship: Not at all! You don't even need to write ship fic, either. For an idea: my last bingo at hc_bingo had Danny-Allison gen fic, Winchester family gen, Sam/Ruby, the Sterek fic I wrote for a friend, and Lydia/various, and the blackout ( made something for every square on the card) that I called had a bunch of different ships on it.
2. Same specific fandom: I sort of got that above, but nope. Whatever fandoms you want to write are fair game, and most places also let you write original content, if you want.
3. Most popular/successful: Well, my faves that I don't have any hand in running are hc_bingo, kink_bingo, and cottoncandy_bingo, and angst_bingo. I also highly recommend homebrewbingo since… I had a hand in making it exist, and there aren't any shiny prizes aside from bragging rights, but there also aren't any due dates and you can work at whatever speed you want.
It's no problem! ♥ Every different bingo has some different way of doing things, but the general rule is that for a bingo, each fic/art piece/fanmix/whatever covers one prompt, and the way you fill the prompts lines up with some different arrangement? And then extras are when you incorporate multiple prompts into one fill. This post from hc_bingo and this one from kink_bingo explain it better, and with visual aids, so they're probably way more helpful than I could be.
