First of all? As a senior, I theoretically know how best to manipulate the scheduling process so I can have copious amounts of free time. I still wound up with three-day weekends ... but 9:30 classes every day that isn't Friday. Because I felt like I needed to be in them. Go me. /sarcasm mode.
On the plus, the woman in a video clip we're watching in class just used the term "cogitating." I think she's awesome.
As for my future ... sometimes, getting through the day is hard enough for me, without trying to worry about planning and so on. So ... whatever happens, whatever I end up doing, I know for sure that I will be writing. Hopefully, I'll be getting paid to do what I love, but if I'm not, I'll find some other means of keeping myself fed, housed, and clothed. This will probably involve teaching, just given my interests and skill sets. Ideally, I'll be sharing accommodations with
splendorbug, a library, and a small zoo of kitties and cuddly dogs.
And just for something unconventional: I want to hug Fred Phelps. And most of the people in the WBC, really. I hate them and everything they stand for; I despise the way they pervert Christianity into a "faith" based on hatred, fear, and making themselves feel superior to other people for no good reason. ... And that's why I want to hug them. They're terrible people, they do horrible things, but I think they're so angry and violent and negative because that's easier for them than being afraid. And since we can't exactly follow a "don't feed the trolls" approach with them (insofar as I can see, being ignored just makes them scream louder) ... maybe fighting them with love would be more helpful.
... And, not gonna lie: I want to test my hypothesis that being confronted with an expression of pure love would make Fred Phelps spontaneously combust.
