Okay, so I still can't believe it. It is the day before I leave and I can't believe I am actually going to teach English, I am so excited and nervous and everything all at once! It feels like I am trying to get everything done all at once, and I am afraid I am forgetting everything.
There are so many fears, like what if I can't really do this, but then I realize I am being silly...or at least I hope.
So, I guess it will be an interesting day tomorrow, being that I will leave home at 5:00am EST just to make sure I am at the airport with enough time, then my flight is at 9:00am EST. Wow, I'll hit Mexico City at 1:45pm EST (then I will be an hour behind everyone LOL) then I have to take a bus to Queretaro and that should get me there some time around 4:30pm EST.
So, anyway, I have so much to do today, and well to get to the point the major reason I am going to try and keep this is because I would love for my friends to post replies to this, as I think this will help me a great deal if and when I deal with my homesickness, as I am sure it will happen, because I've never been out of the country for more than a month at a time.
So, a few things I have learned so far when going to Mexico:
1- Everyone tells you "Remember don't drink the water"
2- You have to make sure you have updated shots, including Hep A (stupid water)
3- Everywhere has a fear of malaria nowadays, including Mexico
4- The side effects of Malaria pills, are nausea and nightmares (wtf?) not had those yet
5- Everyone wants to give you advice about where you are going (I know a few so far LOL teasing)
6- Everyone worries twice as much when you are female and travelling by yourself
7- no one likes it when you tell them you have to take a bus to the place you are going ( did I mention it is airconditioned and has a t.v. - what I'll do with Spanish t.v. is beyond me though)
8- A few days before you leave is when everyone suddenly has time to see you and wants to LOL teasing!
9- It is even harder to get ahold of some people before you are leaving the country than any other time you try.
and finally:
10- From the advice of Tasha = Don't get caught with any dead bodies.
Thanks Tash I'll try that one out LOL
oh and she adds 11- don't get drunk and hitched (good call)
Okay, so with that covered, I don't know what to expect, yes I am excited, and yes I will miss everyone. I hope everyone has an amazing summer and please keep in touch.
Love you lots Adrienne
