MERRY CHRISTMAS! And other phrases that offend...
So, as I'm trying to fall asleep last night (which was really about 6 am) something dawned on me about the upcoming holiday season. To be quite honest I'm a little surprised, and disappointed that I hadn't noticed this before...My revelation is as follows.
There is not one holiday (to my knowledge) that the entire world celebrates together.
I guess my question is...Why not? There are so many religious beliefs, so many national holidays and what have you, that you'd think somewhere along the lines they would coincide. Sadly, this is not that case, sure we have overlapping holidays, or one right after the other, but there is no one holiday, no one day or hour that the entire world unifies under one flag, star, symbol and come together to celebrate that we are here...I'm sure this sounds hokey to some, or most of you, but think about it. The entire world, every last one of the XX-billion people in this world is so obsessed with removing themselves from the pack, standing out against the mold that we as a race, as a planet, as whatever the fuck we are, can't even stop for a moment and acknowledge that we share this world, and everything in it, and until little green men swing by for dinner, we're in this alone...
Now, as some of you know, I pretty much hate everyone that isn't me, or a close friend of me. So why is it that I'm bothered by this? because regardless of whether or not I like you as a person, you're still a person. You still share this planet with me, whether I approve or not. And yet we can't break bread because you don't believe Jesus hung from a 2 x 4, or because I think 8 candles is overkill...I say, if department stores can make up holidays like Valentine's Day or Easter, why can't we, the people of the world come together and pick a day that doesn't offend anyone, and sit down have dinner, or bar b q or watch some Fireworks or something...anything...so long as we do it as a people. Why? Because there will be some Scientologist jerk ass, or some Hindu, or Skinhead, or Canadian that will have a shit fit over something that compromises their beliefs..."I can't eat Cow because Jesus said that L. Ron said that Marcy said that a black guy had something to do with the Holocaust of Allah...eh" Its bullshit. You'd think by now we'd be able to say "Hey, we don't believe the same thing, instead of blowing each other up, why don't we sit back and learn from one another." The whole point of belief is that you believe it, regardless of what anyone else says, or does or shows you. so when I see all these people hating, and blowing people up just because their views differ, all it says to me is that they don't have enough faith in their faith to take a little competition.

I guess my main point is that we can't function as a society, we refuse to be civil towards one another...We bicker and fight and argue and offend and take down decorations over the stupidest fucking things you can possibly imagine...So its no wonder we are dying as a race. AIDS, the plague, e-coli, Global warming...this is all because we can not function together...Until we learn to get along, even if its only one day a year, or every other year, natural selection will continue to find ways to wipe us out...
My solution? A Global Holiday, celebrated and recognized by every single worthless piece of flesh on this Earth. Something great, Lobster Day, or Will Ferrell Has Stopped Making Movies Day. Something we can all get behind...and until this happens, I will continue to laugh and poke fun at every single death, murder, outbreak, natural disaster and whatever else wipes you fucking maggots from the face of my planet.
In closing...I hate this song and I hate all of you.
