Iron Man Fic Rec!!
No spoilers for IM2.
I was going to write up a big post about why you should go read this story right now, but obsession_inc kind of did it for me.
I cannot rec this enough. Admittedly, I'm biased; I've been waiting for two years for this to be done so I could tell everyone to read it, so now I'm saying READ IT, OH MY GOD.
atrata has made an AU where Tony Stark is born without that silver spoon in his mouth, given him the same brain, the same attitude, and then put him in the army. All the same stuff happens, all the same people show up, just... very differently. It is unbelievably good.
So, you know, if you're still in doubt, go read the rest of her rec. But you really shouldn't be in doubt. I too have watched this story form over the past two years and I'm ecstatic it's finally hit the light of day just in time to really build up some squee for the new movie. It's like this mobius strip version of Iron Man (the first) and I love everything about it.
