Really wonderful, nuanced characterizations all around. vivid imagery, I wanted this fic to never end. I'm jealous of this fic. I want to go read it again, right now. I'm entirely sad this author hasn't written anything more.
Pepper thinks she probably knows Tony better than anyone else in the world, but she also thinks that there is a distinct and sometimes unbridgeable line between knowing someone better and knowing someone well. Tony can be perplexing and changeable like seasons and traffic lights. He has a thousand variations, specific personas for specific people and situations, and Pepper can picture him switching between these different Tonys as circumstances warrant, like they're all experimental prototypes, none of them really complete.
In other news, I have spent my rainy Friday off reading Dorothy Dunnett's "The Disorderly Knights," and it's obsession_inc's fault. I've been skipping through the Malta parts. Damn, this book takes awhile to get started. Totally worth it though. Of course, when I told jadefire88 what I was reading, she saw through me and figured out I was only reading it so I could then read "Pawn in Frankincense." She knows me too well. quigonejinn, without giving anything away, I have a suspicion these books would be so up your alley.
