Man will rob another man over a thought (I need/want money)
Man will kill a man over a thought (I don't like what they believe-religion)
Man will destroy the planet over a thought (I need resources)
Man will build cities, roads and civilizations over a thought (I'm afraid of nature)
Man will destroy families over a thought (I must have sex with that person)
Man creates all things because of a thought and then satisfies himself with another thought (Since I'm man and I can think, I'm better than all the other creatures on the planet)
What if all other things think as well? What if their thoughts are different then ours? What if their thoughts don't require them to take away from other creatures?
Well, you might say- so what? Or well, I can't stop thinking! No you can't but you can accept that your thoughts have no more value than a particle of sand. And that in some instances a particle of sand has more value than your thoughts.
This does not mean that YOU have no value, you may be the most valuable thing on the planet.
When your thoughts make your depressed or discouraged, remember they are only thoughts.
Rethink-to think again. Unless you enjoy the darkness of depression-learn to think again. Learn to control your thoughts, throw away those that don't benefit you and others. Keep those that help you and others. Build more helpful thoughts.
Laugh at your own thoughts. Laugh at others thoughts-remember, they are only thoughts. Unfortunately, many people believe they are their thoughts. They aren't and neither are you.
If you were your thoughts, what would you be when you sleep? You can say dreaming is thinking, is it? So if you are your thoughts, do you cease to exist when you sleep?
Thoughts are a wonderful tool. Use them for direction. I want to build a ramp. How do i design it? What materials do i need? All of those thoughts end up producing something, something you enjoy. Thoughts produce actions and provide direction for spending time and creating something.
Thoughts can also provide bad direction. I want to drink so much I become an alcoholic, I want something so badly i steal it, etc.
Love your thoughts, but remember, they're only thoughts. Use them, craft them, share them. Have no attachment to any of them and know all of them, both good and bad, as your friend, then you will live the most wonderful life possible.

With the exception of some of it being terribly cheesy, i think my dad is wonderful. He wrote this to my brother for his graduation.
