Ron Paul may not win, in my opinion, unless the public wakes up and votes only when they are INFORMED... He probably isn't going to win.
But he's inspired a lot of people. Young people like me who never thought their vote would count so "why bother". And also older people, who got disenchanted with the political process after being involved briefly and having a rough ending of it.
So many people pay attention to the media on TV and only that. FOX news reported that Al gore won against Bush about 8 years ago. It's obvious that networks are quick to shout out information never bothering to back it up or even do research. They also show blatant favoritism when it comes to the candidates
Ron Paul knows he may lose. But he says that getting his message out is the most important thing. Freedom from oppression from a government running over its people's rights. It's not as bad as the Nazi's in germany, but if you look at what we've done so far, the laws we have passed in the last 50 years, you will see that we are taking tiny steps towards that. He wants to go back to the constitution, make everyone take a good look and remember what the founders aimed for. A balanced government, where individuals still had a sure say in what went on. Instead of this, "Sacrifice one for the sake of the many." How far will we let that go? When would we draw the line?
how long before that turns into, "For the sake of the strong." ?
People let themselves go to sleep. It's complicated. Most of the time, the bad people win. No one likes that. Why would you want to be involved in that? But people forget that politics is very close to a war. Definately a power struggle. And the less the majority, the people that these laws EFFECT, get involved? then more and more, the minority, the rich and the politically strong... The ones who have no idea what it's like to wonder how to pay next months rent and what they are going to retire on. The more THEIR voice shall be heard, with very little dissent.
Laws will be passed to supposedly help our economy with no basis on real economics. Because they "sound" good to the sleeping voters.
Laws will be passed that take away our rights to protect ourselves from the government.
Right to fair trial and no false imprisonment. Right to free speech. (from what you read of the Patriot Act, you know what I mean)
Right to bare arms. Most people are against guns and want to be even more strict on laws. But what people don't get is that the people who are causing the crimes with these guns usually get them ILLEGALLY and these laws will only effect the law abiding citizens who wouldn't break the law in the first place. and that if, ( and I know this is extreme but this was sort of th epoint of the ammendment in the first place) the government were to directly attack it's people... The free citizens would be able to protect themselves from their own government. Wouldn't it be convenient if only criminals and the government had guns? Think about it. Are you going to really feel that safe?
anyways, I've seemed to have gone on another lengthy rant.
I can't say I'm totally informed. But from what I've researched the one thing I'm sure of is...
That I don't like the looks of where this COULD be going. And I should get involved, even if in the end my stand goes unnoticed.
Which is at the heart of Ron Paul's message. Freedom. Revolution. Facts. Sense.
Don't let Fear rule you and your freedoms.
EDIT
AND THIS MAKES ME ANGRY
