Poll Subwho?

I am reading a paper on text mining and after several sections of jargon and equations and junk, it's about to define a term. It says there are "subtile issues" in defining it. Then it gives the straightforward part of the definition and says there is "nothing subtile" about that. At this point I'm thinking: "Oh, I thought the first was a typo, but now they've done it twice, so they must intend it. It must mean something similar, but perhaps, hehe, subtly different." So I look it up, and it doesn't even have a definition, just points me to "subtle". Damn redundant spellings that almost nobody ever uses! Maybe it's more common in some other English-speaking country.

Edit: No, this guy just can't spell. I ran across "concatinating", and my new favorite, "concaninating". Hee hee! C'mere doggy!
