So... meme. Daily meme should keep me updating this thing, yeah?
...yeah. Mostly just because I've been lurking on journals,

Day 1: A show that should never have been cancelled.
Grounded for Life!
No, seriously - this show is a goldmine. It's the story of an Irish working-class family, headed by Sean and Claudia, living on Staten Island in NY and dealing with their oldest daughter Lily's perpetual drama (usually involving Brad O'Keefe from next door), Jimmy's middle child issues (involving his hair... and strangely, lots of girls), and their youngest Henry's issues (involving being a normal child and not hurting anyone by accident or saying something inappropriate). Also featured: Eddie (Sean's brother) and his revolving door of girlfriends, Walt (Sean's dad) using Claudia's grave in the family to bury Mister Tinkles, Uncle Sal aka Claudia's uncle who is IN THE MAFIA, Brad O'Keefe aka the most adorable boyfriend ever OMG, Sister Helen who is an awesome stuck-up nun, and THE RED BOOT PUB. That needed to be capitalized because it is basically a character for seasons. And it's amazing. I grew up with this show, guys! Turned it on to tune into the crazy things the Finnerty's were doing! THIS SHOW.
It got cancelled halfway through the fifth season after being shoved to a different network (and, um, how confusing was this show to find when suddenly it disappeared?). There are a lot of shows which peaked in their first season (Veronica Mars being the one I can think of immediately) but this show just kept getting better through the seasons! The fifth season was so good (even if Henry was mysteriously absent... huh.) and it had this weird amount of crossover in actors with That 70s Show and Ariel Kebel and - and -
I am trying to track down the seasons of this show because it is just that good. It's realistic and even if some of the situations are a little far-fetched, it's real. This is what it's like to be growing up in an Irish working-class family.
There are a few shows which I watch now and think, "I'm going to show this to my kids". Ned's Declassified, S1 of VMars to my daughter, some HIMYM to the teenagers, Scooby Doo obvs., and Grounded for Life.
Wow... that was a long-winded thing.
