bitchy moment:
Ok, so my theatre is above a pub. And the old management had an agreement with us that when we had a show they would turn their music down low or off. There is now new management (no one told us they were changing) and they have decided not to comply with the old agreement. This resulted in their playing REALLY LOUD bass heavy music during last night's performance. We went down to ask if they could turn it down and they did for 5 min or less and then turned it up. We went down about 3 more times during the show and they would turn it up higher each time to the point where we could feel the ground shake with bass and 10 audience members went down and complained afterwards. It was awful.
Furthermore, the new manager says he doesn't want to discuss the music at all. He says he has a business to run. Today they didn't have any music for a bit becuase they overloaded their system last night and broke it (karma?), but soon after we started it was back again, but not very loud. They were playing the Smiths and some acoustic songs at first (which were pretty harmless) so there wasn't any bass until the really quiet parts happened. After the curtain call the actors went on stage and apologised. I hate people who are so unreasonable and so focused on getting ahead in life that they won't budge for the sake of decency and fairness.
bitchy moment over.
So I just finished this awesome book called "The Book on Laughter and Forgetting" by Milan Kundera and it was awesome! I just got another one of his works from the library which i will begin as soon as i finish "The Pilgrimage" by Paulo Coelho, another new favorite writer of mine. I recommend both of these authors for winter reads whether you'll be flying, spending unwanted time with unwanted family, or just need something to read.
