i am reading the year of magical thinking. i got it because i remember seeing it in alex's bedroom when he lived at hoffer street. and i looked at it, and i asked him if he had noticed that the letters on the cover that were blue spelled "john." he hadn't. john is the name of the author's late husband. and the year of magical thinking is her book about grieving and being crazy while doing that.
she just keeps mentioning how she can't give up john's last pair of shoes and she can't donate his organs, because how will he come back when he doesn't have shoes to wear or organs to run his body?
