This is perhaps a bit belated, but I was in stealth mode or something like that. Now, without further ado, a few WARNINGS about Hali and I.N.V.U.
First, the specific! Hali is obsessively in love with Hajun, who is. well. Her teacher! Nine years older than she is! And, as of volumes 3 and 4, is showing every sign of reciprocating her interest!
I.N.V.U. is a soap opera, so at present it's mostly playing around with the ~edgy~ issues raised by this pairing. It's not a sure thing, but it certainly looks to be heading towards canon, at least for a while. However, it's worth noting that neither the author nor her characters (with the obvious exception of the girl herself) ever really condone what Hali is doing as she tries her damnedest to seduce Hajun. She won't be expecting your characters to approve, and neither do I. But she's also not about to stop.
So, heads up. If age-gaps squick you, you probably don't want to play with Hali too often.
Second, the general. There are times when the characters of I.N.V.U. ....definitely display an adherence to cultural norms which are outdated in many other character's worlds/countries. This is less true of the teenage cast, although you still have things like Sey, the heroine (who's supposed to be a pretty down-to-earth girl), freaking out over getting whapped on the nose because she can't afford pay for plastic surgery right now. But it's especially true of Hajun, who tends to do things like, for example, telling Hali not to smoke because she's hurting her future babies.
And now you know what to expect.
