I'm back with last week's BayStorm translations! From becoming steadily popular as a role model among JE Jrs to the status of his worn-out boxers, you can find it all here, told by the man himself. ;)

N: Okay! Good evening, this is Arashi's Kazunari Ninomiya. Tonight's opening thought comes from radio pen name Kouji-kun no 'Boku wo karakariuryutto' no iikata ga suki-san. (*T/N: I like Kouji-kun's accent when he says, "Are you making fun of me?"; this is from Haha to Kuraseba). "I saw Haha to Kuraseba for the tenth time the other day. The first time I saw it, I didn't quite understand what Kouji-kun meant when he said, 'I was storming.' In my mind, storm=Arashi, so I went home to look it up. Before the war, students in the dormitories under the old academic system (*T/N: 1894-1918) partook in unethical acts of violence. My understanding is that he was talking about this. Ninomiya-san, did you know what this meant when you first read the script? Did you know the word 'storm' had such meaning?"
N: Oh, you didn't know? I mean, I didn't, either, but the director would tell us what it meant. It's basically pulling pranks, in a nutshell. Well, I can feel an air of tension in here [laugh]. They were just pranks, from back in the day. I'd get information like that as I filmed the movie. Right, so she's seen it ten times?! Adds up to about a whole day, 20 hours or so, if she's seen it ten times. What an honor! Ten times! I know, numbers aren't everything, but to hear she watched it, and ten times, no less. That's humbling.
N: Well, I’m always looking for opening thoughts to shout out, so send in your detailed stories. This is Kazunari Ninomiya’s BayStorm with tonight’s opening number. This is GReeeeN's "Yume".

N: That was GReeeeN, with "Yume". All right! This is Arashi’s Kazunari Ninomiya bringing you BayStorm. It's time for this segment: [Breathless plays, STBY: "Let's... Let's Settle This Peacefully~!"]
N: [About STBY] He was here last week, right? He spoke at most two or three words, and enjoyed this candy. (*T/N: STBY probably left a wrapper there) Leave it to that guy. [laugh] All right, here we go. This is from radio pen name Mitame wa soyokaze, kokoro wa Arashi-san (*T/N: I look like a breeze, but my heart is a storm (Arashi)). "The other day, we took a picture during our school club's send-off party for the seniors. For some reason, there was a pair of eyes that showed up next to one of my female seniors. I then took a look at the photo our club took in the spring to welcome new students, and lo and behold, the same pair of ghost eyes were near the same senior. Shocked, I texted her around midnight. She wrote back, crying, 'If you tell me that now, I won't be able to sleep *sobs*' I apologize for sending such a text at such hour. I regret my actions."
N: Yeah, well... what could they do? They saw the spirit in the photo. They were probably like, "Oh no! I need to let them know ASAP!" But I guess I'd be even more freaked out if they texted me that. Right?! Thinking about it, spirits in photos are pretty incredible. We don't know how they sneak into these photos--we have no idea how it happens. Even in the digital age... I mean, we can take thousands of photos now on one camera. And these spirits still have found a way to sneak into the photos. They've adapted. I-In other words [laugh]. My mom. I mean, my mom hasn't even learned how to use a smartphone. But these spirits... they've already learned how to show up in these digital photos. They've gone digital, isn't that incredible? They can show up anywhere: videos, even videos and photos taken on smartphones. Yeah, they must be there, too. Of course, they are! Are you the type to no believe in ghosts or spirits? I keep telling you this, but think about it. There are more dead people than living ones. I'm not saying you have to live with them in harmony or anything. But you have to accept that [laugh], accept the facts. Of course, it'll be scary when we come across them or see them. Doesn't mean the spirit isn't scared of you, too. They're probably like, "Ahhh!" too [laugh]. Okay?
N: Okay, next we have radio pen name Fuyu wa aisu ga tabetai-san (*T/N: I want to eat ice cream in the winter). "My mom and dad found a diary I kept when I was in elementary or middle school. I am now a first-year college student living on my own. I didn't quite remember what I had actually written. The saving grace was that I had only written a page into it, but they told me what I had written: that I hated my father. I'm sure this was hurtful for my parents to see. I'm relly sorry."
N: Do daughters rebel against their fathers? (*T/N: He is talking about the rebellious phase in the tween to teen age range) I see. They don't... like it when... their clothes get washed with their dad's, right? They don't like going in the same bath tub as their father's, am I right? Even though when they were younger, they said things like, "I want to marry daddy when I grow up"? They get like that. That must be heartbreaking. And every day is like this, I assume? How long does this rebellious phase last? [consults producers] From middle school until they graduate high school? [pause] And, how does this... when does it leave their system? When they enter the workforce? Geez... that's a long time!! That's a significant span of time. I see... yeah, I get it. This listener has changed, now that she's grown out of it.
N: Moving on. This is from radio pen name Keeki no ue no ichigo-san (*T/N: The strawberry on top of the cake; lyrics taken from Nino's solo, Merry Christmas). "I tend to talk with excessive onomatopoeia. For example, when I was a manager for our school's tennis club, I was resposible for telling the team members the details of our practice routine. I'd say things like, 'You swish like this here, and smash like this over there.' The messages never got across to the members and I was scolded for being difficult to understand. I know what I wanted to say, but those around me didn't have a clue. I thought I made my message clear. I'm sorry, please go easy on me." Do you have any tips on how to better converse with others，Ninomiya-kun?"
N: Do I have any tips? [*T/N: Control room commends Nino for his speech and delivery of information.] I know. It's exactly as you say. My public speaking skills are fantastic, aren't they? Yeah, I know. I must have been born with such talent. I scare myself sometimes, seriously. Exactly, they're so easy to follow. Those stories from Ninomiya-kun. I wonder why. Well, I mean, it's harder for me to be ambiguous of vague in my speech. Onomatopoeia and such. [*T/N: Control room praises Nino.] Ah, you see? "You know where you want the story to go, therefore making your stories easy to follow," he says. That's what Shinigami (*T/N: BayStorm director) just told me. Hm, in that case, I rarely understand what STBY wants to say. I haven't the slightest clue. So, in one week's time, I give up trying to decode his messages. I decide to ask someone else. Those kinds of people do exist, though. Hm... ah, but you know. Right! I don't really... I guess talking... is part of the job description. Right? That's why I don't beat around the bush really. Mm... yeah. I guess it all worked out, then. It's a skill that's come in handy for me in this profession, wouldn't you say? Well, that's all the time we have for this segment tonight. N: Okay! This is Arashi’s Kazunari Ninomiya bringing you BayStorm. Next up is this segment: Ura Arashi! (*T/N: Arashi secrets) This is from radio pen name Saikin yorugata no watashi-san (*T/N: I've been nocturnal recently). "It was a while back, but you had talked about Matsukura Kaito, a Johnny's Jr. who looks up to you and respects you. You mentioned then that you couldn't figure out why he picked you as a role model, but in recent idol magazines, I find Arashi's name, of course, but also Ninomiya-kun's name a lot more frequently under the section of Jrs' role models. It makes me proud when I read of Jrs who look up to you because of your quick wit and superb acting skills, those who say they want to costar in something with you someday. Have your thoughts changed on Jrs looking up to you, now that you know that number is growing? You also have been costarring with some Jrs quite a bit as of late. If you have any stories about Jrs to whom you've grown close or Jrs in whom you're interested, let us know!"
N: I wonder why. Why would they look up to Ninomiya? The reason? I mean, a role model... You know... [pause] They should have a system, if you get my meaning. [pause] If a Jr... if 10 Jrs looked up to you, you get an additional 200 yen! You know, like hitting a quota or something. A sales quota of sorts. Yeah. "Ninomiya's results for the month of March: 8 Juniors!" Something like that. "Ah, so close!" That sort of thing. If we had that kind of system, I'd... act accordingly, based on that stipend or bonus. And, if you pick Ninomiya has your role model, not that this sort of thing happens... they could get an employee discount on select purchases. If that kind of rewards program were to be implemented, I'm sure I'd have more Jrs speaking in favor of me. You know, have more Jrs who will give my name as the Senior they respect. They may be more inclined to learn about that particular Senior. What do you think? [laugh] What do you think? The Seniors will work hard for the Juniors! And vice versa! The Juniorswill use this system as a catalyst to learn more about the Seniors! You know what I'm saying? I feel like that kind of environment can be created with my idea here. Would that be too much trouble? But this won't change how hard we work, that part won't be affected!
N: Okay, so... how about this. Okay, if 10 Juniors name you their role model, let's say that. Then that Senior must... take them all out to dinner. Does that work better? That way, the Juniors... not that they are substandard now, but they may learn more about their Seniors. Perhaps on a different level, in a more personal way. They may feel closer, too. Or, if, as a Senior, you get 10 Juniors speaking for you, that Senior gets treated to dinner. Can't we implement that kind of system? [laugh]But it's true; we're at that point where it's no longer strange to have boys join Johnny's Entertainment because they love Arashi. How old are we now? 17 years old? Yeah. A 10-year-old boy could very well be joining JE because they wanted to be like Arashi after watching them perform. That's how it goes. What a generation...
N: Next, we have radio pen name Ninox-san. "Lately, my hobby is to wear socks until there are holes in them. When I succeed in making holes in them, I feel a sense of accomplishment. It's exhilarating! It reminded me of when you mentioned on Nino-san that you wear old, worn-out boxers. Do you still wear those? Please let us know!"
N: Yeah. I still wear that pair. [*T/N: Control room questions Nino.] What's that? Yes, I still wear it. [laugh] What's this person going to do hearing my response, anyway? Will it motivate them to keep going, too? No way. That's a personal preference. Agreed? I mean, it's not a big deal [laugh]. It's not about me. Wouldn't you agree? Will this affect their hobby? I don't think my opinions should have any effect on this person. Is it a he? A she, right? Especially since she's a girl... right? Let it go. I guess it's not hurting anyone, waiting for your socks to have holes in them. I rarely wear socks these days. So, I don't get holes in them anymore. Yeah. I only wear them when I'm meeting someone really important. So... yeah, when I meet a respected person. Or when we're learning new choreography for new songs we'll perform at our concerts. Oh, and for work. That's about it. I rarely wear socks.
N: Next is from radio pen name Shin CM zokuzoku ni zokuzoku-san (*T/N: New commercial attack gives me a heart attack; they're name is a play on words). "On TOKIO's TV show, Matsuoka-kun mentioned that he always sings PIKANCHI when he goes to sing karaoke. When he's feeling extra happy, he sings Monster. When he goes to sing karaoke with Arashi members, he forces you guys to sing those two songs. At least that's what he said. He said he especially picks on Riida to sing those songs. Have you been asked to sing those songs, too, Nino? Also, if you have a song that you always sing at karaoke, do let us know that information as well!"
N: Me? I don't think I've ever been to karaoke with Big Brother. Have I? Even if I had, we've got our Riida and Aiba-san, so I'm sure those two were the ones singing. I don't really have the urge to go karaoke. I don't know why. I... yeah, I don't know why. I've never really been, as long as I can remember. S-So maybe, it's just habitual that I don't go? I didn't go as a kid, either. Yeah. Not even with family. It's just not my thing. I guess when I do go, it's for a closing party with cast and staff, to celebrate the end of a filming project. Yeah, so they'll usually invite everyone to go karaoke, and they'll request that I sing an Arashi song. And then, they'll say, "Wow! It's the real thing!" Yeah, and then, they'll finally relieve me of that burden, sort of thing. That's all my singing is worth. It's more of a "might as well" thing, to have me sing. "Let's all sing A.RA.SHI and let him shine for a few minutes." That's all I am to them, me and my singing.
N: In a way, k-karaoke... to be honest, I only sing Arashi songs when I'm singing karaoke. In fact, I don't sing anything but. Since, of course, I don't go to karaoke because I want to sing. I usually just sing at home. Yeah... The act of going to sing karaoke for me becomes a formal occasion by definition, since I don't go in my own time. In that sense, all I sing are Arashi songs when I go to karaoke. I very infrequently sing other peoples' songs.

That way, the Juniors... not that they are substandard now, but they may learn more about their Seniors. Perhaps on a different level, in a more personal way. They may feel closer, too. Or, if, as a Senior, you get 10 Juniors speaking for you, that Senior gets treated to dinner. Can't we implement that kind of system? [laugh]But it's true; we're at that point where it's no longer strange to have boys join Johnny's Entertainment because they love Arashi. How old are we now? 17 years old? Yeah. A 10-year-old boy could very well be joining JE because they wanted to be like Arashi after watching them perform. That's how it goes. What a generation...
N: Next, we have radio pen name Ninox-san. "Lately, my hobby is to wear socks until there are holes in them. When I succeed in making holes in them, I feel a sense of accomplishment. It's exhilarating! It reminded me of when you mentioned on Nino-san that you wear old, worn-out boxers. Do you still wear those? Please let us know!"
N: Yeah. I still wear that pair. [*T/N: Control room questions Nino.] What's that? Yes, I still wear it. [laugh] What's this person going to do hearing my response, anyway? Will it motivate them to keep going, too? No way. That's a personal preference. Agreed? I mean, it's not a big deal [laugh]. It's not about me. Wouldn't you agree? Will this affect their hobby? I don't think my opinions should have any effect on this person. Is it a he? A she, right? Especially since she's a girl... right? Let it go. I guess it's not hurting anyone, waiting for your socks to have holes in them. I rarely wear socks these days. So, I don't get holes in them anymore. Yeah. I only wear them when I'm meeting someone really important. So... yeah, when I meet a respected person. Or when we're learning new choreography for new songs we'll perform at our concerts. Oh, and for work. That's about it. I rarely wear socks.
N: Next is from radio pen name Shin CM zokuzoku ni zokuzoku-san (*T/N: New commercial attack gives me a heart attack; they're name is a play on words). "On TOKIO's TV show, Matsuoka-kun mentioned that he always sings PIKANCHI when he goes to sing karaoke. When he's feeling extra happy, he sings Monster. When he goes to sing karaoke with Arashi members, he forces you guys to sing those two songs. At least that's what he said. He said he especially picks on Riida to sing those songs. Have you been asked to sing those songs, too, Nino? Also, if you have a song that you always sing at karaoke, do let us know that information as well!"
N: Me? I don't think I've ever been to karaoke with Big Brother. Have I? Even if I had, we've got our Riida and Aiba-san, so I'm sure those two were the ones singing. I don't really have the urge to go karaoke. I don't know why. I... yeah, I don't know why. I've never really been, as long as I can remember. S-So maybe, it's just habitual that I don't go? I didn't go as a kid, either. Yeah. Not even with family. It's just not my thing. I guess when I do go, it's for a closing party with cast and staff, to celebrate the end of a filming project. Yeah, so they'll usually invite everyone to go karaoke, and they'll request that I sing an Arashi song. And then, they'll say, "Wow! It's the real thing!" Yeah, and then, they'll finally relieve me of that burden, sort of thing. That's all my singing is worth. It's more of a "might as well" thing, to have me sing. "Let's all sing A.RA.SHI and let him shine for a few minutes." That's all I am to them, me and my singing.
N: In a way, k-karaoke... to be honest, I only sing Arashi songs when I'm singing karaoke. In fact, I don't sing anything but. Since, of course, I don't go to karaoke because I want to sing. I usually just sing at home. Yeah... The act of going to sing karaoke for me becomes a formal occasion by definition, since I don't go in my own time. In that sense, all I sing are Arashi songs when I go to karaoke. I very infrequently sing other peoples' songs.
