Spring Break

Spring break was okay.  Most of my friends were busy since we do not have the same break so I couldn`t really hang out with them.  I started off my spring break reading the Bokura ga Ita manga.  I`ve already watched the anime but the manga continues from where the anime ended and I wanted to read the rest of the story.  The live action movie came out already and I am excited for it.  I still have to wait for someone to sub it though, which will take some time because it`s still being played in theaters at Japan.  I haven`t finished the manga yet.  I`m still in chapter 19.  I loved the anime a lot, I thought it was really cute.  And I love how Ikuta Toma was chosen to play the role of Yano.  I think he is perfect for it so I can`t wait to see how it turns out.

I had a lot of homework to catch up on so I mostly did that.  Spring break was also when I made this Livejournal.  I joined a few Arashi communities already and have been downloading links like crazy.  I love Livejournal, it makes it easier to fangirl here.  It`s my new favorite website!

So, what was my favorite part about my spring break?  It was most definitely hanging out with the favorites.  We watched The Hunger Games (finally!) and slept over at Joe`s house.

[My mini movie review. (There are spoilers, do not click if you haven`t watched!)]
The movie turned out to be really awesome!  I think they did a good job staying true to the book.  I cried when Katniss volunteered herself in Prim`s place and I even gave the three-finger salute to her in the theater, lol.  Of course, I already knew that was going to happen, it`s even in the trailers and it`s what starts everything.  It is just that after reading all of the books, it makes me so emotional knowing how much Katniss loves Prim and the great lengths that she would go just to protect her.  Being an older sister myself, I would do the same.  Hence, the tears, lol.  And of course, I cried when Rue died.  I think everyone in the theater did.  T______T

I wished that they added a few important scenes in the movie like when Peeta fought Cato to help Katniss escape after she dropped the hive on them.  It`s important because it showed that Peeta was on Katniss`s side and everything that he has done was to protect her.  I`m kind of sad that they did not include Madge in the movie.  I really liked her.  Even though she seems kind of quiet and does not play a big role, I think it is much more meaningful if Katniss received the Mockingjay pin from her friend instead of just randomly finding and buying it.  But, it`s okay, the movie was still pretty good.  I do recommend reading the book before watching the movie though.  There are a few details that the movie misses.

Rants:  I hate how everyone is comparing The Hunger Games to Battle Royale.  Some people are saying that The Hunger Games is not bloody or violent enough and it really pisses me off.  Yeah, they are similar in that kids have to fight each other to the death but The Hunger Games does not only center around violence.  The rebellion plays a much bigger part of the story and the hunger games is just what helps lead up to it.  The ideas are similar between The Hunger Games and Battle Royale but if you really compare the two, the storylines are completely different.  I think they are both great though.  They are both interesting and awesome but to me, they are different.
