Pregnancy Update - On my last day of the First Trimester

Jul 09, 2010 10:08

So tomorrow marks the start of week 14, which officially means the beginning of month 4 and the second trimester.

I can still fit into my "real" pants but they're uncomfortable. I got a few pairs of maternity pants from Old Navy (my new best friend). I'd lost enough weight being sick that I went down a pant size in the legs/hips, even though my tummy will be swelling from here on in!

I just noticed that when I sit my belly button faces up instead of out - most likely a sign of my uterus being the size of a cantalope and pushing everything around and up, instead of fat. Both amusing and reassuring.

I'm still sick in the evening but through the day is better. Been feeling twinges of my lower abdominals stretching, mostly happening on the right side. Eating as soon as I get up in the morning is something I feel I need to do but in very small amounts. One yogurt cup was almost too much the other day.

I'm currently drinking about a litre of milk a day and craving peaches. I discovered I could have deli meat from Subway as long as I get the sandwich toasted. I'm still not a fan of warmed deli meat but at least now I have better "on the fly" food options than hamburgers.

I heard the baby's heartbeat at my doctor's appointment last Wednesday - a good strong 150 beats per minute. We will be finding out the sex of the baby as soon as we can, which will be somewhere between 18 and 20 weeks (well we're going to try, we'll see how modest our little one is). But then we'll at least have an ultrasound picture that looks like a person, and not just a bean! Hopefully we get a pronoun to attach to our little one too. :)
