So after a miserable Saturday at work (fuck you ESPN Gameplan) this weekend is shaping up nicely. My first two days off in forever, filled with mario baseball, dinner date, and political upheavlel. Gotta love it!
After spending thursday smoking a blunt, drinking some malt liquor, indulging on menthol cigarettes, and watching the first African-American presidential nominee beautifuly and eloquently accepting his party's nomination, and then friday learning of McCain's ridiculous choice for veep (who it would appear the McCain campaign spent all of 5 minutes vetting), today I wake up to pregnancy scandal!!
It is highly possible that Sara Palin covered up her 17yr old daughter's preganancy by claiming it was her own. I hope this is true, and honestly the pictures and stories are highly suspicious. But regardless if this is true or not, turns out her 17yr daughter is admittedly pregnant now, which the republican machine is now using to refute the pregnancy cover up scandal. Now I don't know enough about time needed between pregnancy to become pregnant again, but I have managed to scrounge up a few actual facts:
- 44 yr old Palin did not announce her pregnancy until her 7mth, no one who worked with her knew, and she looks extremely not pregnant in all the pictures.
- The child has down's syndrome, which actually supports the fact that it is sara's child, as that is much more common in pregnancy in older women. Palin has used this to her political advantage saying she stands by her values and never thought of aborting the child.
- For some one who cares so much for unborn children, it seems to show remarkably poor judgement to take the actions she took after her water supposedly broke. First off, knowing that it would be a difficult birth, Sara, decided to give a speach, take a 22 hour flight home, and go to a hospital farther away with less ability to deal with difficult births.
- She went back to work 3 days later.
- Bristol Palin, the supposed Mother, was involved in a car accident outside an obgyn office, by herself, but the police report does not mention her being pregnant.
The thing that sucks about this whole thing, is the spin is on the way, and the mere fact that, regardless of how one emotionally feels about this subject, Palin was dishonest and has no ability to make decisions rationally will get lost in the talk of her protecting her child and supposedly "standing by her ideals". She has a history of doing this, she is currently involved in a scandal were she allegedly used her position as governor to assist in a custody battle between her sister and brother-in-law. Apparently she sticks to her family ideals so much, she overlooks little things like justice and honesty.
But, the mom covering up her daughter's pregnancy is just the kind of practice of old school republicans. Meh, the choice has never been so clear, I don't even know how to look the world in the eyes as an american if we vote McCain and this crazy bitch in office.
