Update: Golden Week pt 2

Jun 04, 2016 15:17

So for the longest time I had been planning this post, trying to decide how much to include, exclude and describe. You know the drill.

Because I am lazy, I decided not to decribe what Golden Week was but include a link Here

My week was slightly different in that while everyone else had to work on the 2nd and 6th, or were lucky to get everything off by their bosses, I got the 2nd off because we had previously had been called in on a Saturday and I only had to come in for half a day the 6th, and only had to teach one period, which was about animal vocab. Super easy. So what did I do during this really long break?

Well on the 3rd, I went cave exploring and then went to a Samurai festival at a former Buddhist university, current temple. The fifth I went to the big city, Sendai, near us and went castle exploring. The rest of the time was doing nothing, cleaning or exploring Furukawa. I should do a post on that alone soon.

The pics are here , here and here

For those I promised not to use facebook for, here are the highlights:

Did anyone find the Buddha from the last photo that was in the last post?
If you want to know more about a certain site I visited, or want to see more pics, let me know! I highly suggest looking up info on the area, the history is interesting.

Oh yeah and the reason we were at the Buddhist temple for a festival was to celebrate Minamoto no Yoshitsune who did a lot for the area, and they for him, while off fighting a massive civil war and then his own older brother. It was neat and the history major in me was literally having a field day. More info here. I also really enjoyed our trip to Genbikei Gorge, even with the swaying bridge, seen in pic 3. It was an action packed day.

So that was the very condensed version of my Golden Week on the cheap, and I am now deciding what to do about a post about Furukawa, and my more day to day life. Including proof that they blare the song Eidleweiss every morning at 8 over the tsunami warning system, Moon River at 9pm and I am still trying to place the songs at noon and 5pm.
