So… there was no story this week because I was distracted by Gordon Ramsey I was busy. However, theearthkillers’s request about dragons, aliens, and pitchfork-wielding villagers is coming along. I hung out with her this weekend and we had some drinks and smoked some hookah, so she knows that I suck her request is going to be late ( Read more... )

So she's naga-like? That sounds pretty awesome.

Oh, good, someone knows what a Naga is!

Yes, Nisha is essentially a Naga. (In this universe, the legend and mythos of the Naga was inspired by the ruling class of wereserpents, all of who had the cobra as their animal form.) Unlike the Naga, Nisha’s animal form is a Russell’s viper, so she doesn’t possess the royal hood. However, she can trace her lineage back to authentic Naga royalty.

Like the Naga of legend (and most other were-creatures), Nisha possesses three main forms. Human, animal, and a third form that combines traits of both but is larger and more powerful than either.

I know about nagas and wereserpants :D

But I`d be more interested in David. I don`t think I`ve ever red a story about empaths.

I'd like to read it.

Are they going to read us from the books? *is hopeful*

I was just talking to a friend about how empaths are severely lacking in most popular genre stories. (The only four that immediately spring to my mind are Deanna Troi from TNG, Peter Petrelli from Heroes, that Alyssa Milano character from Charmed, and to a lesser degree, Rogue from X-Men.)

I actually had a lot of fun designing the empaths in my universe. I like portraying the abilities associated with empathy as a double-edged sword, especially since there are two classifications of empathic power. (Artaith displays a form of physical empathy in Ave Maria, and Razvan’s mental empathy was alluded to in The Truth of Potential.)

David and Nisha will have little to no contact with the main characters of Defining Fate. Their storylines will feel more like Angel or even The X-Files. They’ll get to encounter a lot of the creatures and cultures that I’ll never get to touch upon in DF.
