Chi-town
Very much enjoying my business trip. I am lying in bed in my towel, reeking of Aveda, sipping room service coffee and watching Oprah (they have on Trinny and Suze from What Not to Wear). We are staying at the Hotel Allegro, fancy rockstar type hotel in downtown Chicago. I actually saw it featured once on Great Hotels.
It's quite hot here. Yesterday it was 102 degrees. We are wilting. Luckily there is air conditioning.
Last night we ate the most phenomenal filet mignon at the Smith & Wollensky steak house. Mmm -- oysters, Bernaise sauce, mashed potatoes, and corn *off* the cob. Steak houses are funny. It's essentially hunks of meat and sides of baby food. Foods you can gum: mashed potatoes, macaroni and cheese, etc. Obviously you can't eat this way all the time. If you did, you would be the most constipated person on the planet. But every once in a while, the decadence is so fabulous. And it was extra fabulous last night since Smith & Wollenksy was -- there are not enough superlatives to describe. I got in bed after the meal and watched Gilmore Girls on my laptop. Heavenly!
