Pizza recommendations from the Soup Nazi

Just got this email from my wonderful friend, Larry Thomas (he played the Soup Nazi on Seinfeld), in response to my plea for pizza recommendations in NYC:

Oh, I envy you so! In Midtown Manhattan and the Villiage there is John's Pizza. It's more of a restaurant than a slice joint but it's the best tasting in town. Just look in the phone book for the address. I think the Midtown one is right around Broadway but I forget which block it's on (44th, 45th, 46th or 47th). There are a few Ray's around for a slice that are good. I think I liked the one on 7th ave around 50th or 51st Street.

If you were to be in Brooklyn it's Amnon's of Boro Park which is more of a slice joint (But it's a very orthodox Jewish neighborhood and they might all break their necks staring at the beautiful Shiksa goddess). I'll include a snapshot.

There is so much great food around but I love the Hahlal chicken and basmati rice you get from those metal carts on the corners for lunch.

I had good scallops and martinis at Rosie O'Grady's (maybe 7th Ave and 52nd St). (?)

Of course there is Carnegie Deli for some deli food but it's all good around there.

If Johnny Guitar is still playing around there it's a great campy comic musical. Of course I saw it a year ago off Broadway near the Villiage so it's probably gone but it was such a hoot.

My good friend Jeffrey Tambor is there in Glengarry Glenross if that's on your Broadway agenda.

Happy Birthday and enjoy, wish I was gonna be there.

Larry

Scallops and martinis sounds fucking YUM. Hmm ... now I am hungry. I think I will make a pizza for dinner. With prosciutto and fresh basil from the garden.
