I bought my mom a copy of Stephen King's Cell for Christmas. She was a huge King fan for a while there, but as his books got less about the scary creatures and more about the psychologically messed up people she's not read him as much. I figured this one sounded more like his older stuff so she might like it.
Talking to her today and she mentioned being about halfway through it but it doesn't seem like a King book to her.
Her exact words: "It's doesn't read like a King book...it's more like a Brian Keene wannabe book."
As I'd take Keene's books any day over King, all I could do was grin.
Hey, looks like I might have discovered another King book I might be able to read all the way through. So far that list is short: The Shining, Needful Things, and his Dark Tower series (although, I've only read about two of those books...so I'm not sure they really count. I did read the Dragon one he had, but I wouldn't ever reread it. I was in a phase of finishing what I started. (A phase which didn't last long.)
