With Ian's birthday yesterday, my parents came down with my bike! (And also helped us pick up an entertainment unit from Deb for our place - they upgraded).
We put the unit together yesterday evening, and I filled the shelves this afternoon.
As for this morning? Well, I convinced Rob to go on a bike ride, which took us in and out of the neighbourhoods around here. We went as far east as Coxwell, where we rode past the hospital (now we know exactly where one is near us!), and basically we just rode around for 2-ish hours. It is great to have my bike back! Rob tells me I look like an idiot for using signals without there being many cars, but I dont care - I would rather stay safe.
As for the route, Google Maps pegs it at more than 13 KM. I have the route we took until we hit the bike shop to buy an air pump for my tires. After that we biked around more and headed to the DQ to share a burger, fries and had the small dipped cones - DQ changed the deal they were having sometime between Friday when I went there with Carl and James and today. The 3 items for 5, and 4 items for 6 is now 3 items for 5.99 and 4 for 6.99 :(. Oh well. It's certainly not the end of the world.
Also, in our biking, we also discovered the secret "Oakwood substation A" with lots of electric fencing and barbed wire protecting the trains in the valley below where we were biking!
It's certainly possible for me to bike to work ... but I still don't like main streets. We kept to mostly side streets for me, and downtown is REALLY busy and I'm just not into it. That or the hills (Broadview) that I would have to bike up in order to get home. And the fact that I'm not comfortable leaving my bike outdoors once I do get to work.
