Roses are red

Ohey everyone. April already, huh? How's that going for everyone?

I totally didn't even realize it was Easter weekend until my friend Julia invited me over for dinner, to celebrate the occasion. That probably makes me a bad American or something, I dunno. But I'm going, and it should be fun :D I love seeing my old high school friends again. Well, most of the time. When there isn't any wangst and drama involved.

Anyway, speaking of drama, it seems there's a bit of it going on in Thailand right now. And by "a bit," I mean holy shit, it's news-breaking, history-making, trying-to-overthrow-the-government type of drama. A buuuunch of protesters in Red Shirts have taken over Bangkok, the capital city, and have forced a lot streets and shopping malls to close. They're trying to convince the Prime Minister to dissolve the current parliament and hold re-elections, in which the people actually have power and can vote. (So basically, the way I understand it, they're fighting for democracy...)

I've only started following the story recently, but my mom's been going crazy about it for the past few weeks now. The most impressive thing to me is how peaceful they've been; I mean, as long as they've been protesting, they haven't done anything violent or spilled any blood (although I think the government has threatened to do this, if they don't disperse, but really, I don't think they can do that without making themselves look bad =P).

Just today, they were talking about how they want to make this a "Red Sunday" instead of a "Bloody Sunday"; encouraging people to wear red, put red decorations on their houses, join them in peaceful protest, etc.

It'll be interesting to see where this goes. This is the first time I've been interested in anything remotely political; I am Thai, so I guess this makes sense, but go figure it wouldn't even have anything to do with the country I currently live in! XD;

Ha. Anyway, guess I'll stop boring ya'll now.

I've got two midterms coming up in the next couple weeks I should probably be studying for anyway, so I guess I'll poof for now. ^^

Everyone have a great Easter now~
