Otakon 2008
It was fun! Though feel free to skip this post, you know, if you don't care. xD
Friday:
Good: Did shopping, which is always fun. Lots of cool art in Artist's Alley. I got a cool picture of Zuko and Katara. I got to see the AMV Contest, and a lot of the ones towards the end were hilarious. :)
Stuff I bought:
- Zuko & Katara picture - $8
- 4 Diamond/Pearl Pokemon Card packs - $20 (total)
- 2 Japanese old Pokemon card packs - $8
- Spiral: Bonds of Reasoning vol. 4 (manga) - $10
- Cardcaptor Sakura vol. 3 (manga) - $10
Bad: I stood in line for Kappei Yamaguchi's autograph, after having gone almost an hour early, and the line got cut off because his autograph session had to be cut a half an hour early due to "prior engagement." I walked away with almost 2 hours wasted, and nothing to show for it.
Saturday:
Good: More shopping, woohoo. (2 Japanese Diamond/Pearl Pokemon card packs, whee) And I got to see my friend from UMBC. We went to watch the Hellsing premiere, and even though I didn't really know what was going on (never seen Hellsing before!), it was a lot of fun. Then we decided to get in line for Derek Stephen Prince's autograph--dub voice for Ken Ichijouji, Veemon (and more) from Digimon 02, and Uryuu from Bleach. He was a fun guy. Also met a person in line who was into Rent. We sung some of the songs (parts of La Vie Boheme ^^)
Later that evening we went to see the Masquerade~ Lots of funny skits and awesome costumes. There was one little girl who was supposed to sing Simple and Clean, but got stage fright and froze up, and we couldn't hear her well. So we all started to clap and try to encourage her, and even started waving our cell phones and Nintendo DS's. (Screw lighters!) Eventually the cutie started to sing a bit, and she actually got lots of applause :) It was her first time ever performing in front of an audience!
Oh--I also got the exact Pokemon cards I wanted from the two packs I had gotten. Leafeon and Glaceon--the "level X" ones. Wewt! They look spiffy. :D (I was very happy about this.)

Bad: As a result of waiting to get Derek Stephen Prince's autograph, we were unable to get Kappei Yamaguchi's. By the time we got the autograph, his line was already so long that it was closed. So, I never even got to see him, and that was my last chance. I was really upset about this for a long time...but eventually, I got over it (thankies candy__chan <3). Plus, when I was angry/sad, I did something silly and slammed my bottle of mountain dew into a table we were sitting at. Then I proceeded to open it because I was thirsty... yeah. That went well.
Not.
Sunday:
Good: Actually, not much to be said about Sunday. Started the day off by watching some AMVs. Always fun. Then did a lot of shopping. I bought:
-Yu Yu Hakusho Season 1 Boxset - $25
-Case Closed Season 1 Boxset - $40
-Noir clear file folder thingy - $5
-One last Pokemon Diamond/Pearl card pack - $5
So all in all, I spent about $116 this weekend, not including food. And I still have $230+ left over from it. Pretty awesome.
Bad: Con was ending ;_;
Anyways, sorry for the rambling. :D In summary, it was a good con, and I am glad I went.
