Tonight I watched Downton Abbey episode 6. Here are some bullet points!
* It’s nice to see that people are finally being kind to Ethel. Except Carson! *rolls eyes*
* I feel even more sad for Thomas now, or rather, I feel the same way about it but now I’m also nervous. He just doesn’t realize that he’s flirting with a guy who is not interested! This can be very bad for him…
* Is Matthew expressing himself very badly, or is Robert just too sensitive? I mean, couldn’t Matthew find a way to talk to him about managing the estate in a way that doesn’t make him see red?!
* I want something to happen to Edith now!
* Branson and baby Sybil. Is this going to be even sadder? I mean, how can it turn out in a good way for everyone involved? I wish Branson would just stay at Downton, even with a Catholic baby! But I also understand that he wants to go somewhere else and live his own life. But that would mean that he takes the child away from her aunts and grandparents - as an aunt with one nephew who lives relatively close to me, that thought makes me sad… at least if he goes very far away.
* Possible partial solution: M&M takes the baby as their own… but that’s a terrible idea and it would make me so sad for Branson! His situation is very different from Ethel’s; it was a tragedy for her as well, but there’s no reason why he should give up his child. She’d have a good life at Downton, but there is nothing that says that such a life would be better for her, even if that’s probably what Robert thinks. But hopefully they can work it out.
