Hi there. I’m sorry I’ve been so bad at commenting lately, but I’ve had quite a lot to do around the house, helping my mom with things.
Also, these last couple days I’ve had a cold. Nothing bad, just a sore throat and a heavy head full of sneezes and I use a lot of tissues. Good thing I’ve still got quite a lot of the soft, nice ones I bought in January! Winter = runny nose. But I haven’t been sick since the end of December (if this counts as being sick, because there’s no fever as far as I can tell without actually checking - but I know what a wreck I become from fever so I guess not), when I coughed a lot, which was worse than this.
Ah, boring post is boring!
What’s more exciting is that I’ve finished Midnight Alley and I’m now on Feast of Fools. I’ve only read the first two chapters of the latter.
I’m glad that I still like the books as much as did when I read the first ones. They are… quite lovely; make me smile. I love how the story twists and turns. It wasn’t surprising that Claire found out what was in that mysterious alley, but what was there...! I love Myrnin. An evil, crazy vampire who, perhaps, isn’t quite as evil after all? Because something about him makes Claire not only pity him but like him. She actually wants to help. Also, I love that he’s an alchemist and that it’s something like magic, and I love that Claire isn’t as afraid of it as Sydney is. (Not that I hold it against her; Sydney’s story is, after all, something different. Because it’s a different author, duh…) Both of them crave knowledge…
Also, I love that she comes down there to find him in a cage and gets told that Amelie put him there. That’s just… Well, a queen’s gotta do what a queen’s gotta do, right? And again; Claire wants to help. They’re in deep trouble but now she feels that she can’t let the vampires just die. Isn’t that fascinating. And now that her strange father has arrived! Amelie is fascinating. And Oliver - now he’s actually being helpful, I like that. Not that it has to mean that he’s actually nice, but I like this “frennemies” kind of relationship it now seems like he has with Amelie. It makes sense, of course, that they work together against common enemies.
Jason is, for now, my least favourite character. Monica is sort of interesting after all… and Sam! I love Sam. And I’m glad that Shane seems to be getting over his aversion towards Michael.
I’m worried about Claire’s parents, though. Also, annoyed by them. I understand that Michael’s probably right that Amelie wanted them there (or was it Bishop, really), but still. And I don’t get this whole “it’s so bad that Claire is living in a house with boys” thing. What’s the big deal? Yes, she’s young, but wouldn’t she meet boys - even older ones, and even older than Shane - at campus? If they’re so against letting her have a boyfriend they shouldn’t have let her move away from home in the first place. And it’s not like having a boyfriend would take her mind off her studies! I guess I’m just too Swedish to get why this is such a big deal…
Anyway, that’s a minor thing, on the whole. I want to keep reading now…
And there was something else I was going to mention but I forgot…
Also, for some reason, there's a small plotbunny roaming my brain at the moment; seems like being slightly sick makes me think of John Watson...
