Finally, my Heroes!

Finally, I now have the Season 4 DVD’s! I can catch up and read everything now and I don’t have to worry about spoilers. :) Sure, I haven’t been able to avoid them completely… because sometimes spoilers are already in the headers, but… c’est la vie.

I watched the first episodes last night, with my mom. She didn’t remember how season 3 ended but strangely enough, I could fill her in on many details… ;) she’s not at all aware of how much time I’ve spent on fanfic since before the end of season 3! (Since before S3 ended on Swedish TV, I mean.)

So, under the cut are some notes and observations I made from watching “Orientation/Jump, Push, Fall”, “Ink” and “Acceptance”, in a completely (?) random order.

#1 Angela is trying so hard!! She’s almost breaking my heart with that stupid… thing she did! (I didn’t share many of these comments with my mother, by the way…) She’s afraid that Sylar is coming out (but for god’s sake, woman, why did you put him there in the first place!) but she’s really trying to see him as the vessel for Nathan’s soul and I think sometimes she really believes in it and sometimes she doesn’t. She has to know that this isn’t really Nathan - it’s sort of like in Dollhouse (of which I’ve watched 2 episodes), isn’t it? (But worse, because that’s just… weird.) At the same time, she’s not at all ready to admit that she made a mistake.

#2 But Noah can admit it! I’m pleased, even if it makes me sad for her that she doesn’t have his support. Noah doesn’t want to be part of it (it makes her angry and disappointed; naturally she’s hurt because he was in on it and now she feels lonely and abandoned and she needs to have someone on her side…), he regrets this emotional decision and thinks he should have stopped her/Matt. The good part of this (IMO) is that there was a reason why he allowed it to happen and even thought it was necessary; it was his suppressed love for her that made him weak in the end of S3. (Yes, I know that this isn't really "true" but it's true in my world!)

#3 Also, his pain because he doesn’t have his family around anymore and the idea of being “retired” and eating cornflakes for dinner… *hugs Noah* He’s twice as lonely because he doesn’t have anything to go back to (I’m thinking Lyle is probably taking Sandra’s “side” here) and he can’t go to Angela because he can’t stand looking at Sylar!Nathan…

#4 Another thing about Sylar!Nathan: Even if this isn’t really Nathan, it is not fully Sylar either (because he’s stuck with Matt). He’s doing things “Nathan style”, even when he comes to Peter for support and when he insists on finding out the truth about the girl whatever her name was - and telling her mom! - and when he said he had to take care of it on his own. Look what happens when Nathan says he’s gonna fix a mistake! One theory is that he subconsciously knew that he was digging his own grave (or rather, digging Nathan’s grave and digging himself out) by digging deeper into the matter… (I don’t think Millie ever was that fond of Angela, actually, so why shouldn’t she seek revenge when she found out. I sort of understand, even if I don’t generally approve of “an eye for an eye” revenge. Angela is right, though: maybe most parents wouldn’t do what she did, but she could do it, and now as she was talking about it - well, in hindsight, if there’s one thing she knows for sure, then it is that she has always tried to save Nathan no matter the cost!) Also, seeing him as Nathan but knowing that he’s not, seeing his confusion… I actually felt sorry for Sylar there, in a way, because something of what he feels has to be real…

#5 Peter/Noah moments… Yes, in one way or another…

#6 And I can see, maybe, some Noah/Tracy there. But maybe not in an entirely good way. And what about Tracy, by the way? I think she really wants to do good things, and she wants to be loved (and not by that sleazy guy) and to have a family of some kind, and all that. I think that Noah, because of his loneliness, could take advantage of that (even if he’d feel bad about it, maybe - Sandra is gone, he can’t have Angela, but Tracy is available…) and that could lead to angst that ends well (she’s not in love with him either), or it could backfire on him if she feels that she gets less than what she wants. (Wow, so many speculations!)

#7 Samuel, Edgar (is angry?), Lydia, Emma: Names I have seen for way too long in fic headers; I almost felt like I knew them already. ;) And at the same time, not. I don’t know what to expect. (Yes, I expect Peter/Emma - that’s not a fanon pairing, is it?! Oh, and I loved the cello scene!!) Especially from Samuel, I don’t know what to expect - more than that I see that he’s important and he has a plan. (Mom said: “He’s a bit like Sylar, in a way.”… I don’t know…)

#8 I’m not sorry to see Danko gone. He was getting boring… What I don’t know is what he was doing with that key. Also, it will be interesting to see what that compass means.

#9 Poor Hiro. He’s really obsessed with being a hero… and now he’s dying. Hm, but I believe I know that he will reunite with Charlie in another episode?! (Or am I wrong?)

#10 Gretchen has a crush on Claire. (Yes, it is obvious. I never said there was anything original in these notes, by the way…)

#11 Kimiko is a strange person. She’s hated Ando ever since he was 14 just because he accidentally spilled his drink over her because Hiro pushed him?! And then after all this time he’s still in love with her?! (Okay, I shouldn’t say anything about unrequited love, but… when she really doesn’t like him..!) So, maybe it was good that Hiro fixed it…

#12 Peter is obsessed with being a hero… The good thing about this is that it’s good that he’s a good guy who wants to help people. The bad things about this are: it’s not good for anyone to be too obsessed with something; he needs to just relax for a minute or two!! Why not spend some time on making his home look like a home? Or hang out with his family? Or hang out with Hesam, who obviously has a crush on him?! (Or not, but you know… I’m sure this is true!)

#13 It saddens me that the whole female cast seems to be completely cut off from Angela so far. Where’s the femslash in all this?! More than Claire/Gretchen, I mean. Hm, maybe later… *tries to hope*

#14 I was wondering for how long Matt was going to stand having Sylar in his head, but I think he’s out of there now? (Or will Sylar go back to being Nathan for a while longer?!) Anyway, the way Sylar talked to him, it was so obvious that the poor guy didn’t have a chance! Yes, Sylar totally owned him!! When Sylar is in Matt's head, Sylar is the boss. The “dead girl”… And yes, I can admit that I kinda sorta drifted over on Sylar’s side here…

#15 I guess it makes sense in a way that Matt didn’t want to “use” anymore (just like Noah is retired, when Peter and Hiro on the other side are doing the opposite) but I think he would have done it sooner or later anyway. Because if the ability is there…

#16 I think I miss Mohinder. I’m sure Matt does, too.

#17 Episode 1 is listed as only “Orientation” on the DVD cover, but I heard them talking about “Jump, push, fall” (so that’s why the episode was so long! now I see that "Chapter one" was in two parts) so I was confused, while I also felt silly for actually knowing the names of the episodes… I had to hold my tongue not to accidentally share the few spoilers (or spoiler-ish knowledge/possibly misunderstandings) I know of with mom…

#18 I can watch the rest of it any day!! But I need to go study French now. Ooops. *hopes for Angela&René scenes in French* *wakes up and knows this isn't going to happen*
