Hana Yori Dango/Kyou Kara Maou!
I passed the Japanese Final Test!! :D But that’s just because Mayumi-sensei is a very kind woman.
The first part of the test was “Let’s conversation!”, in other words to pretend to be on a train and sit next to a Japanese person and talk. When I thought about it before, I could imagine so many things to say in such a situation, but because it was actually a test, I was very nervous! So it wasn’t like a real conversation at all, she just asked me questions and I did my best to reply, unable to ask her anything. Then she said “okay, that was fun!” and she showed me some words to read and translate. There was only one word that I couldn’t remember, it was from last week’s vocabulary list… *looks in textbook* けすmeans ”to turn off; to erase”! Next up: kanji and phrases to read. The kanji reading was easy because there were only a handful of them to read and luckily I knew them all. Reading full sentences was more difficult, because my brain often just can’t handle katakana! I still haven’t learned these characters properly!
But with a little help, I managed to get through it all, and then she told me I can sleep well tonight! *lol* I feel that I kind of sucked at this test, but she seemed to be pretty pleased with my written assignment and the recording we did a couple weeks ago, and I’ve had between 91 and 98 % on all the online tests (one each week), and on all the homework assignments except one where I got 78% because I have this huge problem with separating (and writing correctly) シ、ツ、ン ａｎｄ ソ! I don’t know if my total score is enough to get the highest grade (we have only two grades, and you’d have to get at least 75% on everything in order to pass the course) but on the other hand, it doesn’t matter! This is just my little hobby, after all!
I have now watched up to episode 6 of Hana yori dango Season 2. There are still lots of funny/cute moments. For example, in ep6, Tsukushi wants to work as a maid in the Domyouji family house (lol), and there comes an old woman who drags her away, saying that "There is a mountain of chores to do here” *rofl* Like in any old fairytale where the princess has to work for an old which or something, the old “sempai” who acts all scary now is going to give them her blessing later (when Tsukushi has worked herself all the way through a mountain of hard household work). That’s my guess. ;) But I’m also starting to feel annoyed sometimes because of the way the characters are acting.
Anyway… “You shouldn’t hold back anymore” says Yuki and I agree…. So many people are pushing Tsukushi from all sides and it seems like she has so many people’s feelings to consider that she doesn’t take the time to consider her own feelings.
I liked it when Rui, in episode 5, told Tsukasa what he really thought about things! On the other hand, perhaps I can understand where Tsukasa is coming from, too…
The problem with Tsukasa: He hits the nearest person/thing as soon as he gets the least bit upset. And everybody acts as if this is more or less okay. Well, Tsukushi doesn’t, but who knows, maybe he can beat her up too, some day!
Okay, so this is just a silly drama and it’s true that it’s ridiculous in so many ways, but all the fangirls who prefer Domyouji over Rui (and talking about the characters, not the actors!), would they really like him that much in real life?
Is it even relevant to talk about “real life” and “drama” in the same sentence? Well, I think that it kind of is. Fictional characters can often serve as role models and ideals. I think that a major plotline here is whether Tsukushi will be able to “save” Tsukasa. The mother’s assistant even said so flat out (“he seems more human when he is with you, and that’s how I like the leader of the company to be” or something like that!), and regardless of her feelings for the boy (which sometimes seem rather unclear) this is a huge responsibility. The idea that love can change and improve a person is not new, but where is a person’s responsibility for his/her own actions? Also, sometimes it might not be possible to “save” a boy like Tsukasa, as is so often seen in real life…
Am I taking this too seriously? Maybe I just like the second season less than the first one…
I guess T&T are going to end up together after all. But I feel sorry for Rui. You know what this makes me think about? Kyou Kara Maou! Tsukasa annoys me almost the same way Wolfram does! And Rui smiles and says “Makino…” the same way Conrad says “Yuuri…” and looks at him so gently. And Tsukushi sometimes remind me of Yuuri, when he flutters his eyelashes so cutely as if he’s thinking “I just can’t imagine what you mean when you look at me like this!” (Actually, I’ve always found it funny how anime characters often just stare at each other with wide eyes, repeating their names to each other…)
