The ones of my classmates (the Japanese class) who are into j-dramas (the ones who told me to watch Rich Man, Poor Woman are really fond of
this guy. (We talked about RMPW, and one of the girls recommended a few other things to watch, Nodame Cantabile among others. Two or three people have already recommended the anime… I wonder which version is best?)
I read about him on a forum where I read summaries of the titles that were recommended to me; girls are crazy about him. There were comments like “OMG this guy is a god!!1!!!” and I was like “okay, I can see that he’s cute, but he’s not that amazing, is he?!” So, because I’m always contrary, I decided not to watch anything else he’s in for the moment… ;) But I always liked
the other guy in RMPW better so I looked him up on the same website. (What? I’m looking up guys now? Well, I really don’t know anything about Japanese actors, so I haven’t “found” any women to write about here yet *lol* There were a lot less fangirl comments on his page… I always knew my taste isn’t the same as everyone else’s! *lol*) Sometimes I feel like I’m spending way too much time on… you know, “stuff”, and if I’m going to start watching j-dramas now, I don’t know if I’ll ever get anything done! In order to pretend I’m doing something semi-useful, I’ve found a French website where I can read info about animes and people and now dramas and things…
So, there I read about a movie called… *trying to remember*
Snakes and Earrings. It’s based on a novel that I heard about before and I thought it seemed interesting, so I decided to watch the movie. Also because I was sure it would be different from RMPW and other things like it, and it’s not like I always want to watch (or read) that kind of stuff… Well. It was different alright! Not cute. My classmates wouldn’t like it. (Also, that guy Arata
has no hair in it! haha, different style!) And… I didn’t watch more than 40 minutes of it. (Less than half!) The short synopsis on Wikipedia doesn’t say anything about the sex scenes, or the second sex scene that I watched… Maybe I could read the book, but watching it just made me too uncomfortable. I stopped watching, and watched something else instead!
So okay, maybe I do prefer fluff!! Or I just needed it to bleach my brain… The drama that I decided to watch was still not on my classmate’s list of recommendations, it’s called A taste of honey. (I have watched almost all of it, but I have no idea why it’s called that. There’s very little “honey” in it. Olive oil I could understand, or “forbidden fruit”, or “dark love”… but for some reason, it’s called that.) It’s about a girl who is in love with her father’s much younger brother, and decides to become a doctor just like him. He has a fiancée, then wife, who turns out to be… not “evil” exactly, more like very, very strange and sometimes very mean… The pacing is slower than RMPW (11 episodes) and it’s definitely not as cute, but… I’ve been watching it obsessively these last few days. Hm… A few years ago, I wouldn’t have watched it at all after reading the summary, but too much Heroes fanfic (Peter/Claire!) has made me less sensitive about things…
I can’t keep this up, because I really have to study a lot these last few weeks before the summer!
(Speaking of summer… we have spring now, at least! It has been warm these last few days and the trees are finally getting a little green!)
