The Lizzie Bennet Diaries - that’s an online adaptation of Pride and Prejudice. What we see here is the familiar story as a video blog and it’s brilliant and hilarious. Lizzie and Charlotte are making these videos and Lydia and Jane makes appearances sometimes, and they talk about what’s going on; the mother and Collins and how full of himself Darcy is… You know the story. It’s funny because I really do know the story so maybe I should be tired of these people already? But no, this is making me laugh! I’ve watched 40 episodes, I started yesterday (better late than never!). So, if you guys like P&P, check it out!
But to be honest I don’t understand everything... like why is Lydia always saying “whaaat…” Or I mean, I get why she's saying it but I’m trying to think of how that would be translated - how does Swedish kids her age talk these days? *lol* Also, this Lydia is perhaps even more annoying (but also funnier) than other TV/movie versions I have seen! And Charlotte is funnier and has more personality. I liked that Kitty is actually a kitty in this version (poor Kitty really doesn’t do a lot more than to follow Lydia around anyway…), and I liked that Mary is a cousin, yeah, I like what the did with her character. (There are Lydia & Mary videos, too!!) And Jane is… how Jane is. (And this actress really is pretty.)
This made me forget about my tea when I watched yesterday! And I think Caroline seems to looking at Lizzie in an interesting way… :)
I’m also reading Fade Out (The Morganville Vampires #7).
Like it, like it! I mean, I’ve only read the first half, maybe not even that, but I like it so far. Light bomb! Wow. And Ada, I’m still fascinated by the fact that she exists at all. (And I still like her even when she tried to do that not so nice thing to Claire *lol* Poor Ada.) And Pennywell is interesting. I was so surprised when he took Claire away. I’m curious about his history with Myrnin. They call each other “witch” and “witchfinder”… and that says something, but I still want to know more. (I’m guessing I’ll get more. Pennywell seems like a character that is going to stay in the books for a while.)
Oliver is always interesting. He never stops making plans to take over everything, does he?! And I don’t know… Okay, so he wants to take over the throne, so to speak, and we can’t have that, can we now? But there’s still something about him that makes me want to like him and hope that in the end he’ll stay on Amelie’s side after all. And sometimes I get the feeling that Claire feels this way about him, too. I don’t know.
I also liked the Oscar Wilde quote. I liked that I was reminded of it because I had forgotten that it existed. Then I liked how Claire compared it to something Myrnin would say. (And then I wanted to read fanfic about Myrnin and Oscar Wilde!)
And Kim? What to think of her? I think she’s strange. And not because she’s going after Shane but because she seems to be acting strange in general. On the other hand, it’s too soon to judge her. She could have any kind of role to play in this, maybe not even a big role. But I think this filming thing is going to be important. And it’s interesting that Oliver once agreed to be filmed but now tried to destroy everything.
…And then I forgot what else I was going to say about it. But I haven’t even finished the book so it’s okay.
Something else that I’ve watched is more How I Met Your Mother. It’s funny that I like it because the first time I saw a few random parts of episodes I didn’t like it at all. I don’t know… it’s silly, kind of stupid, but also… you know, harmless and safe?
…Unlike Ally McBeal. I decided to stop re-watching. Yes, this show has its brilliant, hilarious moments and all that, but under the glossy surface there’s always the theme of loneliness and sadness; it’s not just Ally, it’s really everyone. And yes, I can often relate to that, but I feel that I don’t need it right now. (And especially not the warm and fuzzy Ally/Larry feelings, because it won’t last. Maybe I should jump to S5 because I never watched all of those episodes.) It’s different from HIMYM because even though Ted is desperate to meet The One, and is now dating Robin (I’m on S2), and has been dating many girls and will probably go through a lot more (there are like 7 seasons after all!), well, the atmosphere or mood of the show is very different even if he does have a lot in common with Ally!
I’m also still watching Black Jack,
and today I was swooning again because he was showing his kind, gentle and caring side in combination with his “justice shall be done!” side, while also demonstrating his mad surgical skills. That’s the way I like it! Yes, of course I prefer the more serious Black Jack-centric episodes to the silly fluffy ones (some of which are adorable, and others are meh), or the ones that focus on other characters - well, those are hit or miss, really!
Like the first episode I watched today, that was about a man who met a woman who had amnesia. BJ did his thing of course (and saved the day in the end) but the main focus was the guy, and that was okay because I enjoyed the story. Another one I watched the other day was about a man who had devoted his life to taking care of a tree… not boring exactly, but felt like a filler. (This said, I do like most of it! The other day I saw a youtube comment where someone said they still couldn’t decide if they liked it at all or not, that was somewhere in the high 50s! Also, I find the House comparisons pretty strange… I mean, at first I was like “hm, he’s kind of like House, isn’t he?” but after a few more episodes I realized that he’s so not like House, not where it matters. Well, not even House is evil even if he likes to be mean - BJ can be very harsh, too, but it’s not because he enjoys being cruel and rude to people, to embarrass or mock them - so I guess it just bugs me, comments like “cold hearted like Dr. House”… I still think a well-written crossover would be fun to read, but I don’t think it exists.)
I have almost watched all 63 episodes now. Then what? I think Black Jack 21 first, then the OVAs… or the other way around? I don’t know.
Oh, and I watched 1.5 episodes of Bleach the other day. I think I forgot it there for a while! I shouldn’t have stopped, because now I feel that I’ve fallen out of the story and don’t understand anymore who is on which side and why… And I was like “oh, look, they’re still fighting… and now both of them are bleeding… meh, fastforwad… oh, still fighting… still fighting… no, I’ll watch this some other time.” I mean, yes, I get that the “my sword is better than your sword” theme is a big thing here, but…
But right now I want to stop typing and go back to Morganville! :)
