I've been waiting for this to be posted. It was one of my favourites in the original claims post. I know absolutely nothing about Borderlands but it's such an evocative work. It made me want to know more about the persons portrayed and why they were standing outside that store.
I thoroughly enjoyed the challenge even if it was a little bit fraught at the end! If you like fantasy at all I heartily recommend the Bordertown series. The anthology "Welcome to Bordertown" was just released as a paperback (http://bordertownseries.com/). roxy_palace did an excellent job with the story!
I nearly died when I saw this art. I'm too young for the original anthologies to be bought new, but I've spent a ton of money tracking them down on rare book sites, and I FREAKED OUT when I heard about the newest, and bought it the first day it was out. I was SO FUCKING EXCITED to see this artwork, and I had a billion ideas about how to make it work, but I really wanted to read it, not write it

So yeah, I have loved Bordertown since forever, and when I used to (in another life) manage a bookstore I'd give them to the unsuspecting "you like fantasy? okay with an anthology? HERE! you haven't read anything like this before
